So as the dust settles on our event and we enjoy everyone’s feedback and photos, a big shout out goes to the organising committee who for 12 months have worked away to raise funds and make sure the event went without a hitch.

Seeing so many happy faces, enjoying their session and meeting up with some heroes of the past have made all the hours worthwhile.

Four years after the last meeting at the Abbey Stadium, Swindon supporters are to be given one more chance to meet up after the closure of the speedway team in 2019.

The Garden Room, Blunsdon House Hotel is the venue for the Celebration event on Sunday October 29.

The October event will include a rider re-union, bike display, photo & autograph opportunities, rider interviews with Clive Fisher and launch of The Story of Abbey Stadium" 1949 - 2019 book written by Trevor Davies and the late Glynn Shailes. (SEE PICTURE. The limited edition souvenir book is priced at Just £12 will be available at the October 29 event.

A Swindon memorabilia collection by Neil Ockwell including the Shailes/Bamford Swindon project, a unique team picture collection of Robins through the seventy year history of the club will be on view for the first time.

An audio visual show will bring back memories of racing at the stadium. All costs of book production and event costs have been sponsored by local businesses which will enable all profits to be donated to the Speedway riders Benevolent Fund.

Today marks our official launch of our event A Celebration of Swindon Speedway, come say hi to us at the Calne Bike Meet where we have a stand.

The event will take place at Blunsdon House Hotel on Sunday, October 29th and split across two IDENTICAL sessions to maximise ticket availability.

We have 150 tickets available for FREE to each session, all we ask on the day is to give generously to our collection for the Speedway Riders Benevolent Fund.

Hi, welcome to our page set up to promote awareness for our upcoming event, A Celebration of Swindon Speedway.

The primary reason behind the event is to celebrate the launch of a new book written by Trevor Davies, The Story of Abbey Stadium-Swindon which looks back at the history of both the stadium and the sport of speedway within Swindon.

The event on Sunday October the 29th 2023 held at Blunsdon House Hotel will be split across two identical sessions to allow the maximum amount of supporters to attend and enjoy the event but also catch up with some familiar faces from the terraces.

Now this is the best bit, tickets for the event are absolutely free, yes FREE..........However with this in mind we have decided in conjunction with the Speedway Riders Benevolent Fund to hold a collection on the day so we would ask you to make a contribution to help with their valuable work.

In fact, this is a non profit event with ALL proceeds raised from both the sale of the book, collection contributions and any other profits from the day donated to the SRBF Ben Fund. This is our chance for the name of Swindon Speedway to still shine with the speedway community with our club traditionally raising large sums over the years for a very worthy cause.

So what else can you expect on the day, there will be invited riders in attendance, a collection of Robins memorabilia such as race jackets and kevlars from Neil Ockwell's ‘Robins Nest Collection’,a small display of vintage bikes from Paul Muller's ‘All Star Classic Speedway’ collection, photos taken from Glynn Shailes ‘Project Swindon’ collection, interviews, videos and more.

As previously mentioned, there will be two sessions run, both identical between 14:00-16:00 and 16:30-18:30 so you will only need to apply for tickets to ONE session.

We do ask that at the end of the sessions the room is vacated straight away, this is at the request of Blunsdon House to avoid contravening any fire regulation around maximum capacities, you can however use the hotel facilities such as the bar.
