GOWER MUSIC FESTIVAL 2020 CANCELLED

It’s with great regret that we have to announce the cancellation of this year’s Gower Music Festival. The ongoing Covid-19 restrictions and a lack certainty around when they might be fully released make it overwhelmingly difficult for us to organise it. In the current environment, it would also be irresponsible for us to organise an event that brings hundreds of people from across south Wales together in a small location. We’ll be back in 2021, better than ever, so please keep an eye on our page.

2020 the South Gower Sports Club, Scurlage will celebrate its 75th Anniversary. There will be an event in August to which everyone is invited but in the meantime, we’re looking for some help. For the 50th Anniversary in 1995 the Club produced a booklet documenting the history, the achievements and the characters associated with it over the years. We’re now looking to update this with what has happened over the last 25 years.

As you may know the club is home to the successful Senior and Junior sections for South Gower Football Club and Fall Bay RFC and is a real social hub bringing together members from across the Gower villages. What make SGSC particularly special is that it is volunteer run by local community members so I’m sure everyone must know someone who has been involved with the club at some point!

We are delighted, once again, to announce that The Gower Music Festival has been shortlisted as a finalist in the “Best Welsh Festival” category of this year’s Welsh Hospitality Awards.
This year’s Gower Music Festival was, in our opinion, our best yet!
We continue to strive to make our festival an inclusive and family friendly event and we’re delighted to have been nominated once again. This year, the weather was on our side and enjoyed a full bank holiday weekend of sunshine and fantastic music. Many many thanks to everyone who attended this year and to those who nominated us for this award.
The festival is hosted, organised and run by the volunteers at South Gower Sports Club and all proceeds are put back into amateur community sport in Gower. Apart from it being great fun, that’s our motivation for running the festival but we are exceptionally grateful for this additional recognition.
