Lords, Ladies, gentleman and all you other folk not sitting on a cushion!!

As many of you already know I lost my Mum nearly 2 years ago when she lost her battle with cancer.

What many of you won’t know was that many years ago she always said that if she ever got cancer and had to go through chemo, she would like a new wig as she hated her hair.

She hated that she it was really fine, that was like straw. Crazy really because over my lifetime alone, she spent hundreds if not thousands of pounds on hair products, ‘rollers’ and having stylists often travelling the length of the country to visit stylists she liked. She regularly would travel from Cumbria to Bath, to the amusement of friends and family!!

I did say to her at the time, maybe I should grow my hair and donate it for a wig, we laughed about it at the time, but now I feel I should make this into a reality. So now is the time.

My hair hasn’t been cut since before Christmas and I aim to get it cut in July. I need a minimum of 10 inches for it to be accepted. It cannot be coloured and needs to natural. My hair is naturally dead straight so I’m sure it will be perfect for someone.

Many people will know I love my hair, even though I have inherited the fineness. I don’t spend any money on it apart from going to the hairdressers when I have to (usually twice a year)!

I hate asking for money, especially as I know many people are struggling at the moment, but if you can afford just £1, it all counts. Please donate if you can.

Who else is watching the coverage of the Chelsea Flower Show 2026?

This was a border I designed and have to say I'm very proud of it. I love the different textures and colours and all shade lovers.

So if you have a difficult spot in your garden and you want it transformed, drop me a message

I just have to share these. Aren't they beautiful, long stemmed, vase quality Pansies, just how the Victorian's enjoyed them.
These are grown locally to me and can be bought direct from the grower. They have some amazing flowers throughout the year, grown in a windy area of Derbyshire and are also available via the website Flowers From the Farm Limited

Popped into the Artisan market today just to get some wonderful flowers from . Also had a look around too. Absolutely love these flowers. They are grown less than 5 miles from my front door on very sandy soil. Great drainage but also very dry. These are Calendula and Anchusa. Absolutely stunning. So much choice on offer, other bouquets 💐 included Alliums, Stock, Phacelia, Forget-me-not, Ranunculus and some beautiful Victorian style Pansies with long stems for cut flowers.
If you want to send a bunch of flowers but can't get to Stapenhill check out the website.

Anyone else watching the coverage of ??

I may not have a show garden, but I have done them in the past.
I do create planting plans for borders, so if you have a border that needs a transformation, get in touch. Here is a photo of a garden I designed in back in 2022. This is just 4 years on. I'm so proud of it too. The customers love it too

Be aware, we are due some frosts this week. As the old saying goes... "don't cast a clout 'til May is out".

Some may remember their parents of grandparents reciting this old wives tale.
"Oak before Ash we're in for a splash, Ash before Oak we're in for a soak".

I'll let you decide from the photos below, which you think is true for the forthcoming summer (rain).

These photos were taken earlier today just over the border in Leicestershire

Isn't nature magical? This is a Lupin leaf.

It has tiny hairs (trichomes) on its surface that are superhydrophobic. This means it repels water/dew which collect at the centre of the leaf 🍃

I've even seen bees 🐝 drinking from these water 💧droplets
