Christchurch Sutton - Concert Series

03/11/2026

🎹 WE BROKE THE TRADITION — AND WE’RE JUST GETTING STARTED! 🎶

Three concerts. Three different experiences. One shared vision: Making Music Alive.

Since launching the Christ Church Sutton Concert Series, we’ve been on an exciting journey to challenge the traditional concert experience.

From Recital × Masterclass to Recital × Lecture, we’ve explored new ways of bringing classical music closer to our community — welcoming young children, aspiring musicians, music students, professionals and audiences of all generations.

We’ve successfully delivered our first THREE concerts, inspired young musicians, welcomed new audiences and created a space where music is about more than simply sitting quietly and listening.

But we’re not stopping here!

🌟 2027 IS GOING TO BE EVEN BIGGER!

We already have an exciting programme of musicians and performances lined up for the first half of 2027. And there’s something special coming next…

Making music alive. Inspiring the next generation.

26/10/2026

📅 Our first half of 2027 is already booked, with concerts planned for every month!

We are not simply organising concerts. We are inspiring the next generation, supporting emerging musicians, and building a community where music belongs to everyone. ❤️🎹

And we are only getting started! 🎶

Our mission is already reaching beyond the concert hall. We are inspiring aspiring young musicians preparing to apply to the Royal College of Music (RCM), the Royal Academy of Music (RAM), the International Music Conservatory, and Guildhall School of Music & Drama, as well as musicians who are currently studying at Guildhall and those who have graduated from the Royal College of Music.

We are building a platform where professional musicians, emerging talents, children, families, and the wider community can come together through music.

🎹 Our 3rd Concert | Christ Church Sutton Concert Series

What started as a crazy idea is now becoming something real. ❤️

Today marks the third concert in our brand-new Christ Church Sutton Concert Series, and we’re continuing to challenge tradition and explore new ways of bringing classical music closer to our community.

From our first Recital × Masterclass to today’s exciting Recital × Lecture, we’re experimenting with different ways to make music more engaging, meaningful, and accessible to everyone.

As Artistic Director, my priority has always been to connect the music that performers genuinely want to share with the people who come to listen. It’s not just about performing on stage — it’s about communication, building a closer relationship between musicians and audiences, and creating an environment where everyone feels welcome.

Especially for young children, that first moment of connection matters. Before they learn to read a score, understand musical theory, or appreciate a masterpiece, they need the opportunity to feel, discover, ask questions, and connect with the music.

Perhaps this is where their musical journey begins. 🎼✨

We want classical music to be alive, approachable, and meaningful — through conversation, curiosity, and shared experiences. And sometimes, breaking tradition is exactly what we need to bring a new generation closer to music.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who made today’s concert possible:

🎹 Adrien — thank you for joining me in bringing our Recital × Lecture idea to life and sharing this musical journey with us.

🎼 Nelson Yum, our appointed piano technician — thank you for your dedication and for making sure our piano was beautifully prepared for the performance.

📸 King, our photographer and videographer — thank you for capturing the special moments and helping us preserve these memories.

☕ Faith, our church lead staff — thank you for your wonderful support with the refreshments and for helping create such a warm and welcoming atmosphere for our audience.

And, of course, thank you to everyone who attended, supported, and believed in our vision. A concert series is never built by one person alone; it grows through a community of people who share the same passion.

Three concerts in, and this is only the beginning! ❤️

Making music alive. Connecting generations. Reimagining the concert experience.

Welcome to the Christ Church Sutton Concert Series. 🎹✨

Please continue to support us and share the journey with us.

🎹 Thank You, Zoya Shuhatovich 🎹

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Zoya Shuhatovich for a truly inspiring and wonderful evening at Christ Church Sutton.

Her beautiful musicianship and artistry created a memorable and uplifting experience for everyone who joined us. ❤️

This concert also marked an important step in the development of the Christ Church Sutton Concert Series as we continue to explore a new approach beyond the traditional recital format.

For us, a concert should not simply end when the final note is played. Music is about sharing, communicating and inspiring.

Following the recital, we introduced our new masterclass concept, bringing together two pianists from very different musical backgrounds:

🎹 Joyce, our church organist, who regularly accompanies our Sunday services at Christ Church Sutton.

🎹 Zheng-Yu Sim, a pianist currently studying at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama.

Different experiences, different stages of musical development, but one shared passion for music.

We believe there should be a place for everyone — amateur, student or professional — to learn, communicate and share their musical journey.

This is at the heart of our vision for the Christ Church Sutton Concert Series: to make music alive.

A special thank you to Nelson Yum, our piano technician, for his professional expertise and for carefully tuning and preparing the piano for the evening. 🎹

We would also like to thank King Owusu Ansah, our photographer and videographer, for capturing the special moments of the evening and helping us preserve these memories. 📸🎥

This is only our second concert, and we are very much at the beginning of this journey. We are developing the series, experimenting with new ideas and creating a space where music can be experienced in different ways.

Thank you to everyone who attended, supported us, shared our events and helped us grow.

Music is about sharing.
Music is about communicating.
Music is about inspiring. 🎶

We look forward to continuing this journey with you.
