A breathtaking award-winning performance, heritage and community venue housed within medieval redundant St Peters, Sudbury, Suffolk

Formerly St Peter's Sudbury, we are currently closed and undergoing a major project led by the Churches Conservation Trust, to regenerate the building into Sudbury Arts Centre. Sudbury Arts Centre will be a vibrant inclusive place for all to enjoy heritage, gigs, talks, community activities, an in-house cafe, learning for schools and much more, and operated by The Bridge Project, Sudbury. TODAY our fab stallholders are all set up, the coffee is on, the cakes are ready, the drizzle has stopped but its probably too wet to garden so come on down to our Craft Market from 10am to 3pm.

We have ceramics, textiles, jewellery, stained glass, metalware, handmade plushies, Hand knitted children’s clothes, craft gins and other spirits AND MORE

While you’re in town pop to Gaol Lane to see our brilliant mural by Bridie Cheeseman taking shape. It’s been so nice to hear from Bridie how overwhelmingly positive people have been about it! It’s still work in progress but the wall is looking so much better and brighter.

Its time for another Craft Market on Sunday with some fab makers and creatives. 10am to 3pm free entry - cafe open!

Swipe for everything else including portrait drawing group, Stitch & Sip, Songwriters Circle and our wonderful little exhibition from DeCafé members living with dementia.

If you’re taking part in Suffolk Historic Churches Ride+Stride on Saturday we’re also a checkpoint from 9am to 5pm. 🚴

Something BIG is coming to Gaol Lane in Sudbury. Keep an eye on the wall opposite Sudbury Wine Boutique🍷 👀

The first bit of work has begun, with the wall being prepared for a brand new mural for Sudbury, and over the next couple of weeks, weather permitting, it’s going to transform before our eyes.

Designed especially for us by brilliant artist Bridie Cheeseman this isn’t just a mural for the community; it’s a mural that has been shaped by the community too.

Bridie has been working with local children through two special primary school learning sessions with St Gregory CEVC Primary School and Tudor Primary School, gathering their ideas, creativity and inspiration.

We also held an open community day, inviting people of all ages to get involved and help influence the design, so a huge thank you to everyone who came along, shared ideas, got creative and contributed. Your ideas are now part of the story on the wall!

If you’re passing while the work is underway, stop and say hi 👋 and you might catch the mural taking shape.

A massive thank you too to the The National Lottery Heritage Fund and Sudbury Town Council for helping to make this happen.

We’ll be sharing sneak peeks and progress as it develops…

Sudbury Arts Centre in St Peter’s was created thanks to major funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund, and now we’d love to hear what you think!

Please take a few minutes to complete our short survey. Your feedback will help us understand the difference the project has made, improve what we do, and shape the future of Sudbury Arts Centre.

The survey is part of an independent evaluation by Bright Culture, commissioned by the Churches Conservation Trust for Sudbury Arts Centre. Responses are anonymous and may be used in evaluation reports.
