Today was the last day working with our brilliant 2022 crew and despite the VERY unpredictable forecast and looming weather, we managed to bring all 20+ tents down dry and work our magic to squish everything into the back of the van 💪🏼

After a brief encounter with some wild horses we managed to sit down and share a G&T tinny to celebrate the end of another season.

Huge thank-you to the crew and to all our guests this summer, as always you make it all possible.

Today was even more memorable because it’s the last big job I’ll be doing for a while. Those of you who read last months newsletter will know that I’m scaling back events from next summer. I’ll share more on that over the coming few weeks once I decompress from this season.

For now, I’m super happy and grateful for all the support we’ve had again this year. You guys are the best.

Swipe to see how happy we are about the van pack 😂

P.s feels v full circle, this was one of the first venues i went to when I started out in the tent game all those years ago 🧡

Morning👋 This is me emerging from the fog that was February and stepping cautiously into Spring 🌿🌱🧹

With both Indy and Sienna I found the 4-7 month baby period pretty hard going, I definitely retreated a little to conserve energy. Things seem to have settled slightly and I’m feeling pretty grateful for all that brings.

I’ll share some highlights in stories from the past month or so. Behind the scenes I’ve been preparing for the tent season to start up again and hoping to fling open the shop doors again soon. Thanks for sticking with me you lot. Much appreciated. Hope you are enjoying the sunshine today and holding all your loved ones close.

Big hugs ###

I’ve been working on lots of guest booking pages this week ~ if a couple book our glamping hire services for a wedding or celebration, we have an option for their guests to book / pay for a tent direct to us, just like you would a hotel room.

We create a private page on our website, this is shared with guests of the event in advance and I manage the bookings to keep things super simple. This works really well with weddings and larger celebrations.

I’ve offered this service since we started and it’s always been really popular. There’s a small charge, which covers my admin time and the fee’s that I lose to Stripe / Paypal for taking payments individually as opposed to one lump sum.

Anyway, just wanted to share this, although the summer is our busiest time, there’s always bits going on behind the scenes to keep everything running smoothly.

Indy: “Mummy please could I have an pear”

Me: “yes of course” goes to fridge, gets pear and passes to Indy.

Indy: (in a slightly raised voice) “No mummy not like that”

Me: Slice pear into quarters, put on plate.

Indy: “No mummy, not like that” even louder with a red face.

Me: Gets another pear from fridge, different plate, looks at Indy and asks “Like this?” No reply. So I put it down on the table.

Indy: looks at me. “Not that one. I want a booowwwl mummy”

That’s before we’ve even begun thinking about getting dressed.

A story from us to you. Prompted by a friend saying I wonder how much parents have endured before 9am drop off.

So to all the parents cooking a meal for a child that will likely end up in the food waste in an hour. I see you! Your efforts do not go unnoticed. 👀

This winter sunshine really is bringing all the JOY ✨✨✨

It’s been so lovely to catch up with lots of couples this past week or so, many of who have waited two years to actually get married or have their event. Bonkers. Planning has recommenced and I’m beginning to get a feel for what this summer may look like.

Availability wise there are gaps, the start of the season is reasonably steady, with more space opening up around August.

I’m doing a little work from the kitchen today with Sienna close by if any clients want to chat.

Shop wise, it’s still closed. This isn’t something I will be doing often, opening /closing, I just needed to manage energy with the smalls in the run up to Xmas, rather than having orders spread out. I’ll be swinging back open the doors shortly.

Hope you are all able to get outside for a bit today. A frosty sunny one here in Stroud. ✨

This photo was taken in the dizzy heights of 2017 ~ a good tenting year. Pre babes and pandemic, there was a lot of momentum and pace in the business. Looking back gives me a giddy feeling about the future too.

I’m trying to sort out the ridiculous amount of photos I have on my phone which has taken me on a trip down memory Lane.

I’d really like to have all the special photos printed in a physical book or framed, and the rest organised digitally or deleted. I think this is my version of a January cleanse / detox.

Saying it here to give me some accountability 😂

This little canvas camp was created in the wild fields of for a client ~ an absolute fave venue.

Hope you are keeping cosy, it’s a wet play day here, fire and TV on. Keep warm friends 🔥

CHRISTMAS EVE ✨✨✨

Questions today so far…

~ Does Father Christmas have a sister?

~ Does he keep babies in his sleigh?

~ Will FC burn his bottom on the fire when he comes down the chimney?

I think Indy is feeling a mixture of excitement and trepidation about tonight. Let’s hope for some sleep. Until then mince pie, carrot and drink put out and stockings hung. Christmas we are ready for you! 🎅🏻✨🧑‍🎄🌲🎄

Making little wreaths to send out with your orders today.

Last February I sowed seeds for a cutting patch as an experiemnent. After some nurturing, those seeds became seedlings that I planted in the ground, hoping they would survive the late frost we had in April. Some did, some didn’t. Those that did provided beautiful flowers and grasses over the summer months, some I enjoyed in the garden and some I picked.

Over Autumn I hung flowers up indoors to dry, and now in winter I’m passing them on to my lovely customers. Spreading some floral love. What a lesson in patience. I’ve been reflecting on this cycle while creating mini-wreaths this morning. Nature really does give back so much if we look after it.

I really do love wrapping and packing your boxes, thank you for trusting me to make your gifts special and for choosing to spend with us.

The shop is now closed for 2021. Thank you, thank you for being here. I’m forever grateful for your support 🧡

Now I’m switching into Christmas mode and taking some time to rest. 🎅🏻🎄

P.s the cloth ribbon hanging on the wreath was naturally dyed in 2020 using buddleia
