More on U Archenfield: As a prolific digger, archivist and collagist, U’s music projects evolve alongside an expansive accumulation of visual material, including video, books, films, texts, and other historical documents. This research is intrinsically connected to the songs, which operate according to specific logics and conceptual reference points.

To make ARCHENFIELD, U mined a wealth of recorded material relevant to a specific intersection of Herefordshire, Gloucestershire and Monmouthshire, an area once known as Archenfield. With a nod to traditional music, he creates beautifully atmospheric sound pieces comprised of painstakingly researched samples to create a stirring reflection on local history and broader themes of how we interact, or even fail to interact, with English folklore today.

U is performing 2 x different immersive AV sets for Neoancients (2 + 3rd May) consisting of music from the ARCHENFIELD LP as well as unreleased material from an upcoming companion project.
“...there is something universal about U’s vision. It acts as a reminder that we are all situated in history, and exist in a place whose story is bigger and longer-lived than any individual.” KLOF magazine
“Archenfield, a deeply immersive, occasionally unsettling but frequently extremely beautiful collage of electronic music, found sound, brass, piano, organ and snippets from films, television programmes and YouTube videos” The Quietus
