✨ Calm Your Nervous System at The Old School Yoga Studio ✨
Over the next week and through the Bank Holiday weekend, we have a beautiful range of offerings to support regulation, restoration and reconnection, through stillness, sound, breath and mindful movement.
When we think about calming the nervous system, it isn’t only through rest or meditation (though these are powerful). Regulation also happens through the body, through breath, movement, rhythm, awareness and learning to build trust in your body over time.
Our upcoming sessions offer different pathways into that:
🌿 Yoga Nidra & Sound Baths : Deep rest practices to help settle the mind, soften held tension, support integration and invite the nervous system into a more easeful state.
🌿 Ben’s weekly Mysore Yoga sessions (movement and breath-based practice) : A unique opportunity to experience yoga in a more individual way within a supportive group space. Rather than following a led class, Mysore style offers one-to-one guidance so you can build a safe, steady practice at your own pace. A beautiful way of cultivating trust through the body and nervous system.
🌿 Veronica’s weekly Vinyasa Flow : Flowing movement linked with breath can also be a pathway to regulation, helping to release tension, build resilience and bring awareness into the body in a dynamic yet grounded way.
🌿 Monthly Yin & Sound (Bank Holiday Saturday) : Veronica and I will also be offering our Yin and Sound session, a nourishing blend of long-held supported postures and sound to soften deeply held patterns of tension, invite release, and support a profound nervous system reset.
What I love is that these are not separate approaches, but different expressions of the same intention, creating safety, trust and ease in the system.
✨Sometimes calming the nervous system looks like lying down and receiving.
✨Sometimes it looks like breathing and moving gently.
✨Sometimes it looks like flowing, strengthening and finding steadiness.
✨Sometimes it looks like being supported one-to-one to build trust in your practice.
And importantly… this is not about striving. It’s about listening. Because the more the brain and nervous system trust that we are taking care of the body, the more they let go.
If any of that calls you, we’d love to welcome you at the The Old School Yoga Studio 💜
