Stranraer Park Fest

Our dear friend and Park Fest founder, Mandy Green passed away on Friday afternoon.
We are utterly heartbroken.

Mandy was at the beating heart of our community's live music scene and she will always be remembered and celebrated for bringing this festival to life, turning vision into reality, and raising so much money and recognition for our local RNLI.

She very much was that 'big heart' of ' The Little Festival with the Big Heart' which brought so much joy to so many people.

Mandy was a true community champion, someone who got things done and made things happen.

She was well known and respected throughout the area in her varied roles.

An advocate for young musicians, Mandy was always supportive and gave encouragement to all, wherever possible.

Our love and thoughts go out to Mandy's, family and friends, and all those who knew and loved her.

The Park Fest Team are all rather disappointed to not be preparing for this year's event right now, as we are sure those of you who would have attended are too.

Unfortunately, due to a lack of funding, this year Park Fest wasn't to be.
We hope to be back with you next August - keep your eyes peeled!

Instead, for those of you looking for something to do this week, there is so much to do and see!
Bounce Inflatables & Softplay are at Agnew Park today and tomorrow;
Stranraer Music Town are hosting Open Mic Night at THE PUB from 8.30pm on Thursday;
Wild Thyme are performing at The Custom House from 10pm on Friday night;
Water Tower will be performing at Grapes Bar on Saturday from 5pm;

AND on Sunday, there is a whole host of activities for all the family!
Stranraer FC & Stranraer Community Events Group are holding a Family Fun Day at Stair Park from 12noon;
Papa Rabs are holding a Charity BBQ from 2pm;
Kissing the Flint will be performing at The Swan from 3pm;
and, Jimmy Mac returns to The Grapes from 3pm too!

A reminder that Stranraer Hogmanay Hoolie @ Home II goes live at 9pm on Saturday night for you all to watch from the comfort of your own homes!

It's all coming together!

As you may notice, we don't have a marquee this year. The forecast is looking good, but we do advise that you dress for the weather.

We do have some seating available, but please feel free to being your own.

Please DO NOT bring your own alcohol. Bag Checks will be in place by SIA badge holders on entry to the music arena.

Last, but by no means least on this year's Park Fest line up is Breakdown SOS!

Breakdown SOS are: Ian "blind lemon" McGhie. Guitar and Mandolin. Nish "strap on" Walker, harmonica and guitar. Mick "one hung low" Raw, bass and guitar. Lindsay "biggles" McQueen. Drums. Special guest star on bass is Murray "mint" Brock.
Keep on laughing, just to keep from crying.....

Charlie Rogers is returning to our Main Stage!

Charlie Rogers is an Oregon-born, Kansas-raised genre alchemizing country singer-songwriter based out of Nashville, TN. His genuine, often widely varied sound, aims to bridge interpersonal gaps allowing each of us to feel seen & understood through his distinct ability to tell a story with the use of charming lyricism & textured musicality all while simultaneously putting an end to the quandary of where contemporary country ends & pop/rock begins.
Rogers has opened for the likes of Brothers Osborne, Russell Dickerson, & Janelle Arthur. He has played CMA honors ceremonies for the likes of Charley Pride & Ricky Skaggs. His artist work & writing has been shared the world over & encompasses stages from all over the US, Spain, & the UK as well.
Rogers has been a proponent for music his whole life & began singing & writing even at a very young age. His inspiration for his musical pursuits is & has always been to communicate the commonalities between us, especially for those groups who often feel unseen or unheard, often extending a hand across rigid genre lines to do so.
Rogers’ most recent release, “Just Another Late Night,” received over 115k stream independently & has been features on radio stations & popular playlists the whole world over. Rogers’ plans to release his next single, “When He Was Me” a ballad written by Shay Mooney of Dan + Shay, in the next coming months.

Tia Macleod will be featuring on our Acoustic Stage!

Tia is 19 years old and has been singing and playing guitar since she joined Stranraer guitar club when she was just 9 years old. Tia has performed at many events and places in and around Stranraer, Park Fest being one of her favourites, but this time she is returning as a solo performer at the event for the first time. “I’m really excited to be part of Park Fest again and so pleased that it is back up and running again.”
