Went to Lindholme lakes for a little but of coaching on Thursday with lindholmes own Alex which saw us take a seat on the wonderful loco lake. Main approach was pellet waggler and shallow on the pole with the conditions been warm and muggy.

1st 2 hours of the day Alex ran through the nity gritty about waggler fishing. With what type of wagglers to use when the perfect size of hook length. Then it was my turn to get on the box and put his tips and tricks into practice which in fact caught me a shed load of carp and f1s.

Then the last couple of hours of the day talked me through approach to shallow fishing in terms if the benefits ilof using jigger rigs and fixed rigs

What a fantastic day it was learned loads

Been to lindholme lakes for the week with Lindholme Angling Club Sponsored By Bag 'em' Baits for there yearly festival. 1st time I've fished the festival but there will be more to come for sure.
Was drawn 5 decent pegs in my 👀.

Day 1
Peg 16 bonsai
Started off short hoping for a couple of early bonus fish only had the 1 f1 on this line feeding rmm pellets. Then chucked a feeder with a 50/50mix of marine halibut and green swimstim and a single maggot on the hook nothing materialised on this line. Really a throw away line whilst I was priming my shallow line with casters. Fished that line at 13 metres for majority of the day but had to make it work. Then I ended up catching a couple of small f1s and carp down the edge.
Ended up with 79Lb for last in my section

Day 2
Was supposed to be on peg 4 on laurels but I had other commitments unfortunately which was college that I had to attend so ended with 6 points
So after 2 days I was on 11 points

Day 3
Peg 14 on beaches fancied it with the amount if room I had
Simple match to say the least
Topkit+2 with a stung out 4x10 rig feeding maggots to end up with 38Lb of ide
Then fed down the left with groundbait and they started to show ended up having a steady last hour catching small f1s until 1 minute before the whistle then I hooked into a 8lb carp which was enough to secure 3rd in the match and 2nd in the section. Ended up with 70lb

Day 4
Peg 25 on willows
Simple day again really started off on my topkit+3 line but only endde up having 2 f1s. Whilst I was priming my bomb line to the stickups infront of me. Ended up catching on that line steady but only a very small stamp of f1. With an hour to go I went down the edge but yet again only managing a really small stamp of f1s. Ended up 45lb for another last in section. Another absolute shocker but it happens to the best of us

Day 5
Peg 23 on bennies
With the conditions I knew it was going to be hard to feed shallow with casters. I started off on a pellet feeder using groundbait and maggot and had a really steady 5 hours on this line catching 85 f1s. Then went shallow which I had been struggling to feed from hand all day but was still managing to get bait out to make the noise which is needed. Had another 20 f1s in the last hour.
Ended up with a new personal best of 211Lb beating the previous of 188Lb for a section win and 2nd on the lake.
Nice way to end the week.

This weekend I ventured again to lindholme lakes for round 3 of the Lindholme Angling Club Sponsored By Bag 'em' Baits Sunday summer league

Came with a plan to fish casters shallow and that's how I caught 95% of my fish then I had a nightmare down the edge losing 5 proper carp which ended costing big time

I weighed 58lb 4oz for joint second in the match alongside Colin Webster and we were done by 3oz both of us on golden pegs as well which was heartbreaking onto the next one fishing best I have done in a long time so let's keep the momentum up as I currently sit 3rd in the league

On Saturday it was the turn of the Debbie Clarkson Memorial match match which was held on bonsai at lindholme where we had 41 anglers fishing
I've been given peg 64 for the day which I fancied for a few fish
Started off on a method feeder with my usual 50/50 mix of marine halibut and green swimstim and a single maggot on the hook had 4 f1s on this line whilst I was priming my shallow line at 14.5 metres feeding maggots.
Where I had 4 carp and 2 f1s the fish weren't coming into the feed you was having to work the swim for bites
Then fed the edge line down to my left at topkit+1 with groundbait and h**p to have 2 more big f1s
Then I went short where I ended up losing 3 carp
Ended up with 44Lb for no where on the match ut was a really good day out raising £745 for the amazing charities

1 match to talk about this weekend
Hook4heros at larford lakes. Drew 36 on the specimen lake was hoping for a few proper 1's
But long story short I kicked off on top kit+3 landed a tiny carp then losing 2. After that tried every method I set up had a couple of silvers but nothing special
Then PILLED it in down the edge as I usually with a 50/50 mix of marine halibut and green swimstim ground bait with a bit of h**p in it to try keep them proper carp in my carp. Only had that 1 carp down the edge before missing a couple of bites but there were no signs in the peg of anything else
Back to lindholme for the Debbie Clarkson memorial match next Saturday

Yesterday ventured to lindholme for round 2 of the sunday summer league was drawn peg 7 on the beaches lake which I fancied for a few bonus carp.
Started off on hard pellet at 2 o'clock at 5 sections in the 1st hour I had 20 ide 1 f1 1 carp which i thought was a good start to my match all whilst loose feeding my maggot line
Started off at 5 sections at 10 o'clock until I started hooking fish on the way out so decided to come to topkit+1 and had a good run of ide ending the match with 90 ide which wasnt too bad considering I needed about down the edge trying to catch carp in the last 2 hours
Whilst losing 2 proper carp on the maggot line
Fed pellets corn and h**p down the edge to the rushes on my left had a few signs but could tell they wanted groundbait as stuart on peg 8 caught over it
Ended the match with 37lb 4oz which was good enough for 3rd in my section but yet again lost fish potentially cost me

Onto larford lakes next week for the hook for heroes match. Hoping for a few proper 1's

Bank holiday Monday I ventured to a very windy worsbourgh reservoir with my good mate ellis only set an 11ft ngauge fishing a 45g small hybrid feeder with micros soaked in f1 pellet soak and a 5mm speedy washter only had 1 pull which was a 12oz skimmer. No carp unfortunately hoping for 1 next time

Peg 77 on bonsai for the final practice match for the national. A peg what I expected some fish off.

Started off on the feeder to the island with a 50/50 mix of marine halibut and green swimstim and a single maggot had a couple of indications on the lime but nothing was going to come off it. Whilst feeding a skimmer line to my left over groundbait a mix of dynamite silver fish and Amino milled expanded but only managed a couple of smaller skimmed on this line

Then I chucked a bomb with a yellow washer on the hook between the 2 islands and just sat and waited for bites on that line until I went down the edge with the same groundbait mix as previous with a piece of corn. Fish were down the edge but didnt really want to settle over the groundbait ended having 3 down the edge. Missed notes may have costs me for the section
Ended up weighing 34Lb

Ventured again to lindholme for round 1 of the lindholme angling club summer league
Drew peg 61 on bonsai a peg I didnt really fancy
So went with the approach of fishing for skimmer on the top kit+3 line over groundbait with a single maggot on the hook. Rig of choice was a as1 to 0,14 mainline to a 0.11 hooklength
Also set a method feeder up to the corner of the island which I used a 50/50 mix of green swimstim and marine halibut with a single red maggot
Also fished long again using an as1 but to 0.16 mainline and 0.13 hook length
Had to chop and change lines all day to keep fish tick over
Ended up with 41Lb 10Oz
For 2nd in section

Ventured again to a fully booked open at lindholme lakes on the laurels lake.
Peg for peg got drawn pe 37 which I fancied for a few especially with a spare peg to my right.
So decided to kick off on a micro hybrid feeder with fishery pellets soaked in sweet f1 pellet soak and 2 sticky f1s on this line
Then went to fish maggot on the top kit+3 line had a few small reach and skimmer but nothing was going to materialize on this line
Then ended up chucking a bomb and corn for the rest of the match having 3 more f1s and 3 carp ended weighing 25Lb 3oz
Some decent practicing for the commercial national
Onto the 1st round of the lindholme angling club summer league next week

1st match back
Peg 46 bonsai at lindholme lakes

Started off fishing a method feeder with groundbait a 50/50 mix of green swimstim and marine halibut and a single red maggot on the hook. Started off slow but stuck at it and managed to have a few small f1s but nothing major then had to keep chopping and changing lines to try get bits.

Ended up with 25lb 3oz
A learning curve to say the least
Let's not forget the shiny pound to nathan Young

Made a few mistakes on the day but we learn

Can't wait to be back match fishing AGAIN 🎣 let's hope for a good day and a good start to a busy year
