Tickets: https://www.festivalawards.com/buy-tickets/ Since its inception in 2004, the UK Festival Awards has been dedicated to recognising and celebrating the collective accomplishments of the nation’s most beloved industry. Across its 21 categories, the Awards acknowledges the achievements of organisers and suppliers in the fields of programming, pr

oduction, innovation, emerging talent, marketing, hospitality, catering and more. Each category has its shortlist and winner determined via a combination of public vote and industry judges, and for 2022 this methodology has been further refined to ensure that the prestige of these internationally recognised accolades continues to increase. Following several years in London, the Awards’ 17th edition will move to a new home at Escape to Freight Island in Manchester, taking place on December 6th 2022. We hope you’ll join us there for what’s set to be a revitalised ceremony that’s more inclusive and atmospheric than ever.

Throughout 2026 Music Support is taking its work on-site at festivals across the UK with its Safe Hubs initiative, which started in 2016. These hubs are dedicated backstage spaces where artists and crews experiencing a crisis at a festival can speak to trained professionals. This could be an anxiety attack, mental ill-health or problems related to addiction. At the same time, these spaces can simply be for someone who needs time to themselves away from the crowds.

Here, Music Support co-founder Matt Thomas and trustee Claire Haffenden speak on the importance of providing a safe space at festivals and the ongoing need for mental health and addiction support in music 🎤

Last week, we had the chance to cross the border over to Wrexham for FOCUS Wales 2026. The city now more widely known thanks to its football club and two Hollywood owners, has hosted the festival for the past 16 years.

Most of our time was spent at the conferences, which provided invaluable insights into the workings of the music industry and providing a healthy mix of realism and hope for the future of artists, grassroots venues and festivals.

With talks presented by Music Venue Trust, BLACMEX , Marshall Group, British Council, LIVE Trust and more, common themes throughout were the importance of indigenous languages for culture and communities and how to represent the under-represented.

In-between the talks we managed to venture across the city to catch some emerging artists from around the world playing in local pubs, hotels, Cafes and churches.

You can read our conversation with FOCUS Wales director Sarah Jones before the festival here via the 🔗 in bio.

As larger festivals have more sophisticated accreditation setups at their disposal, smaller teams are on the back foot. Technology has developed to help smaller events do more but the issue can be around implementation.

To help with this problem Ginger Owl Productions developed GOAllAreas, a platform that streamlines critical operations and gives real-time information from pass types, completed health and safety inductions and expected vehicle numbers.

Winners of the Outstanding Contribution award at the 2023 UK Festival Awards, Ginger Owl Productions have been putting on events for the past 13 years. And one person behind it is co-founder Nancy Skipper.

With over 25 years of experience, Nancy has seen the world of event production shift as technology accelerates. Nancy gives us her take on where festival accreditation is and where it might be going at the 🔗 in bio

The UK Festival Awards are introducing a range of updates for 2026, including changes to categories and judging criteria, new awards, and the launch of a new daytime conference, 'Festival Focus'.

Non-Music Festival of the Year will now become Arts & Culture Festival of the Year, and aims to award the many cultural events that sit alongside the traditional green field weekender. Brand Activation of the Year will also become Brand Experience of the Year to award greater audience experiences, while the Headline Performance category will change to Festival Performance of the Year.

Three new categories are also being introduced for 2026. An award for festival innovators working within the Accessibility & Inclusion sector will be recognised, alongside those building and reimagining our green field stages through the Festival Infrastructure Award. We will also be introducing a Charity Initiative of the Year Award, which will shine a light on those using their platform to support everything from local community projects to large-scale charitable initiatives.

In February, the event marketing company Mustard Media announced it had helped drive £166 million in ticket revenue for its music, sport and hospitality clients.

The report highlights many success stories. A TikTok campaign for Reading & Leeds Festival drove a 488% uplift in purchases, while Derbyshire’s Y Not Festival doubled its launch sales with a +130% increase. Perhaps most importantly though, it tells us what festivals can and should be learning from the wider sports and events industry.

Mustard Media's Sian Bennett tells us what opportunities there are and what festivals should be doing to cultivate their crowd 🗣️
