Houghton & Wyton Xmas Lights To provide an evening of old-fashioned fun to bring the community together – an evening for the community by the community.

To provide a huge xmas tree and white lights for the Village Square plus further small trees decorating the shops, with ‘lighting up’ to be on the first Saturday in December, dismantling on or before Twelfth Night i.e. 6th January. To provide an evening of FREE entertainment for the children, including food (such as hot-dogs, popcorn, mince pies), light sticks or other novelties, the appearance of

Father Christmas with sweets to hand out, fairground type rides and entertainment from the villagers e.g. choirs, poem readers, using mainly the village school children from Year 6. To provide all of the above through money raised from fundraising events in the villages, Parish Council grants and donations of monies or goods. To ensure that the event in NO WAY becomes a commercial venture by bringing in outside food or other merchants to SELL their wares or PROMOTE themselves. Everything in the Village Square on this one evening is FREE otherwise the participation of the village by the village will be lost. The whole event to be organised by the members of the HOUGHTON AND WYTON CHRISTMAS LIGHTS COMMITTEE ONLY.

** update ** all sorted now. Trees and lights are down and tucked up in their duvets for another year.

HELP NEEDED if you car is parked around the clock tower, in particular the tree, could you please move them urgently as we are trying to put the tree down 😥
