Brief on the footpath works at Charlies Loan
Over a 18 months ago the Paths Group commenced the work to improve the public path down Charlie’s Loan towards the Community Centre. We are now in a position to re start the project and focus on the path that forms a diversion to the existing steps at the bottom of the path. We have held meetings with Stirling Council and they have undertaken the difficult ground works to scrape a foundation for the installation of side boards, membrane, stone then surface finish. You may have noticed the work they have undertaken from your walks around the village.
We are now at the stage of installing the side boards for the path before the stone can be barrowed in. The first delivery of the stone has been dropped off at the top of Charlie’s Load. We decided it was easier to barrow this downhill than attempt to do this up hill!
This is where your valued help comes in. Over four weekend days we hope to barrow the stone down the path to the new path, around 100m. The days pencilled in are as below. These are dependent on good weather.
Provisional dates identified are:
• Saturday 13th November, 10am to 1pm
• Saturday 20th November, 10am to 1pm
• Saturday 27th November, 10am to 1pm
CV19 is still a risk to all of us and we need to make this activity as safe as we can so the following should be understood.
1. Only attend these work parties if your offer of help has been accepted, please donot just turn up on the day, we need to restrict numbers so physical distancing can be achieved as best we can on this narrow path.
2. Only double jabbed volunteers will be accepted and only turn up if you are feeling well and consider yourself to be free of CV19.
3. Bring a mask with you so if you are likely to be close to others at times then a mask should be worn.
4. Use gloves all the time. These will be provided if you do not have any.
5. Bring your own tools and only use what you have brought with you.
6. A wheel barrow, shovel or spade are required.
7. All volunteers will be booked in so we have a track and trace system in place should it be need.
8. No toilet arrangements will be in place so you should go home if needed.
9. No drinks or snacks will be provided, if you require some then bring them with you but do not share these with others.
10. If you have some steel protected boots then wear them.
If you are interested in helping us with this community project will you get in touch with Peter Rowell ( [email protected] ) and register your interest. We will then be in touch with you to confirm your place. Let me know what dates suit you.
This portion of the pathway is important to members of our community who are having difficulty with the current steps. It would be good to have this complete before the winter weather makes the existing steps more difficult.
