Today, in Parliament Hall in St Andrews, Prof Stamatia Dova (Hellenic College Holy Cross, Boston USA) will give the first lecture for the Scottish Hellenic Society of St Andrews for this year: “We have won: Athens 1896 and the cultural politics of the first marathon."

Please ensure that you arrive in Parliament Hall before 14.40. The lecture will start at 15:00, after the opening remarks for the "Athletics and Identity in Ancient and Modern Cultures" conference. If you wish to leave after the lecture, there is a break from 15:40 to 16:00.

We are happy to announce that we will begin our new season events on Tuesday 17 of October at 17.00 in room S11 of Swallowgate building. There will be a wine tasting of Cycladic wines from Paros and a Doug Forsyth (St Andrews) will make a presentation oν Cycladic viniculture and wine-making, both modern and ancient. The only skill required is to be able to taste wine and listen simultaneously! We would like to see as many of you as possible!

*In this event we will also announce the programm of this year's lectures.
