Welcome along to another Throwback Thursday, a chance to look back at a parade gone by.
Today’s photo features a Geest float, from the 1960’s, but just look at the size of the crowd. It goes back as far as the eye can see.
Truly remarkable, although these days the crowd wouldn’t be able to get as close to the floats as they do here. Also the man leaning against the green light of the traffic signal to get a better view, certainly would not be able to do that.
Can we replicate those crowds today?
It’s a different world, times have changed, society has changed, maybe in a more hectic world people have less and less time.
But imagine, just for one day in early May………

Welcome to another Throwback Thursday a chance to look back at a parade gone by. It appears to be from the 1960’s, but the exact year is unknown.
It looks like this time we got a visit from the Pearly King and Queen all the way from the East End of London.
So, in my best Cockney lingo,

“Would you Adam and Eve it? Let’s leave the Jam Jar at home and go for a Ball of Chalk along the streets of Spalding and be part of their Jack Cade.”
Another memory next week.

Our amazing volunteers have been hard at work giving all the donated soft toys and dolls a full spa day 🧸🛁😂

Every teddy has been washed, fluffed, dried and is now looking and smelling lovely ready for their new homes!

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who donated and to our brilliant volunteers who spent their time sorting, washing and rescuing an army of cuddly toys 💕
