It’s not just about the music… 🍕

Between performances, the Festival Marquee becomes the perfect place to slow down, grab something to eat, catch up with friends, and soak up the atmosphere.

This year, AR&Co Catering will be serving two-course buffet dinners before the evening concerts, alongside pizzas, sandwiches, snacks and drinks throughout the weekend.

Because Southwell Music Festival is about the full experience, not rushing from one performance to the next.

So… what is Southwell Music Festival? 🎶

It’s four days of live music across Southwell, bringing people together, trying something new, and just enjoying it for what it is.

Whether you’ve been before or not, it’s a really easy one to come along to. No pressure, no expectations, just good music in a great setting.

There’s a mix of everything too, from classical and choral, to jazz, folk and more. From bigger evening performances to more relaxed, intimate moments throughout the weekend.

If you’ve ever thought about coming, this is your sign.

Join us for a special evening this June 🎹

We’re delighted to officially unveil the Festival’s brand new piano, a beautiful Kawai GX5, now resident in the historic State Chamber at Southwell Minster.

To celebrate, renowned pianist and great friend of the Festival, Libby Burgess, joins Festival Artistic Director, baritone Marcus Farnsworth and soprano Alison Rose for an evening of live music centred around this exciting new addition to Southwell Music Festival.

Made possible through a grant from Newark and Sherwood District Council via the UK government’s Rural England Prosperity Fund, the new piano marks a really special moment for the Festival and its future performances.

Could you perform at Southwell Music Festival? 🎶

We’re currently looking for local musicians and ensembles to be part of Music at Ceramics in Southwell on Sunday 30 August.

Throughout the day, live music fills the Market Square alongside the much loved Ceramics market, creating one of the most relaxed and community led parts of the Festival Weekend.

Whether you’re part of a folk group, jazz trio, choir, brass band, acoustic act or something completely different, we’d love to hear from you.

If you’ve ever wanted to perform as part of Southwell Music Festival, this is your sign.

Dame Felicity Lott (1947-2026) – Festival Patron

We are incredibly sad to learn of the death of Dame Felicity Lott, and our thoughts are with her family at this time.

Dame Felicity had been a Patron of the Festival since its founding and was a great supporter of our organisation. She was especially instrumental in our early years as we were establishing ourselves. Her kindness and enthusiasm were seemingly boundless, and she brought a touch of magic to all her interactions. She was especially supportive and encouraging to our young musicians and took such care in the way she offered advice and support.

A great artist and a wonderful soul who will be missed by so many.
