I Swear

Rating- 8/10

was an amazing film that completely drew me in from the opening scene. There were moments that made me laugh, others that had me close to tears, and I couldn’t take my eyes off the screen. Knowing it was based on a true story made it even more powerful and emotional.

I thought the casting was fantastic every performance felt genuine and deeply connected to the story. The chemistry between the actors was believable, and each role felt perfectly chosen. You could tell the cast really understood the emotional depth of what they were portraying, which made the whole film even more impactful.

Everything came together beautifully from the acting to the cinematography and the music. It felt real, human, and deeply moving. The pacing was just right, keeping me hooked without ever feeling rushed.

By the end, I was left thinking about it long after the credits rolled. It’s one of those films that reminds you how powerful true stories can be.

The dammed united
6/10 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
If you love football and history, The Damned United is a film worth checking out. It tells the story of Brian Clough’s short but dramatic spell as Leeds United manager, and it mixes sports drama with character study really well.

The acting is excellent Michael Sheen does a brilliant job as Clough, and the casting overall feels spot-on. The film captures the rivalry, the tension, and the passion of football in that era, making it enjoyable even if you already know the outcome.

While it’s not a perfect film, it’s definitely entertaining and well put together. It’s a strong choice for anyone who enjoys football, history, or just a good character-driven story.

Narvik 7/10

I recently watched Narvik and found it to be a really strong film. It’s presented in its natural language with subtitles, which I think makes it feel even more authentic. Sometimes subtitles can take getting used to, but here they really help you connect with the story in a genuine way.

The movie is historically accurate, and you can tell the creators really cared about getting the details right. That gave the whole experience a lot of depth and made it feel both educational and emotionally engaging.

There are some heartfelt moments that really stand out, and the story balances the larger historical events with the personal struggles of the characters. The casting is excellent each actor brings a sense of realism to their role.

It’s not a loud, Hollywood-style war film, but rather an inspiring, well-acted story that respects the history it’s portraying. A must-watch if you enjoy historical dramas and don’t mind subtitles.

The Keeper (2018)
Rating: 7/10

A tear may have even dropped at times.
This one really surprised me ,emotional, inspiring, and beautifully told. The Keeper follows the true story of Bert Trautmann, a German prisoner of war who became a football legend in post-war England. (Even with awards from Germany and England after due to the fact he helped create relations between the Jewish community)
It’s more than just a sports film. It’s about forgiveness, redemption, and finding common ground after unimaginable conflict.

The casting is spot on, the acting is brilliant, and the whole production feels authentically British. It doesn’t try to overdo the drama, it just tells a powerful story, simply and sincerely.

If you’re into history, football, or just love a good underdog story, definitely give this one a watch.

A solid 7/10. A good watch, and a memorable one.

28 years later 10/10.

From the start, it just grabbed me. The atmosphere was intense in that same quiet, creeping way the original had, but it didn’t feel like a copy. It felt like a proper continuation , like the world had aged with the story and you could feel every year of it.

The camera work was incredible. Some of the shots were absolutely stunning, even in all the chaos. It had that gritty, grounded feel the series is known for, but with moments that looked almost hauntingly beautiful. It made everything feel more real more human.

The characters were what really pushed it over the edge for me. They weren’t just there to survive. they changed, they broke, they fought, and you felt every bit of it. There was proper development, not just plot pushing. You actually cared about them, and that made everything hit harder.

What I loved too was how they expanded the world. This wasn’t just about the UK anymore , they showed how the virus had reached other countries, how governments reacted, what was left behind. It made it feel massive, like the full scale of the outbreak was finally being explored, and it added a whole new layer of fear and realism.

It didn’t lean too much on the old films either, which I appreciated. When it did reference them, it was subtle and earned and when that classic music theme came in, it gave me chills.

I walked out of the cinema in silence. Not because I was disappointed, but because it actually got to me. I haven’t stopped thinking about it since.

6.5/10
I gave the new How to Train Your Dragon live-action a watch, and honestly, it was alright. Not amazing, not terrible , just somewhere in the middle.

I didn’t mind it, actually. I thought the cast did a decent job, even though I know the casting stirred up a bit of controversy when it was announced. They weren’t perfect, but they fit the roles better than I expected. Hiccup didn’t have quite the same awkward charm, and Astrid could’ve had more to do, but overall, it wasn’t badly acted.

The visuals were decent too. Toothless looked great, and Berk was fun to see in live-action, but it still didn’t have that spark the animated version had. Something about the heart and emotion just didn’t translate as will.

The story follows the original pretty closely, which made it predictable, but there were still a few nice moments , mainly between Hiccup and Toothless , that reminded me why I like this world so much.

I’m actually looking forward to the next one. I think there’s potential if they lean into it more. But truthfully, you just can’t beat the animation. That version had something special.

Final destination bloodlines

so I just watched the new Final Destination and honestly? I had a pretty good time. It’s exactly what you’d expect from the franchise ,over-the-top deaths, ridiculous tension over everyday objects, and that constant feeling of “wait, is this how they go?” all the way through.

The opening disaster scene? Genuinely brilliant. It gave me that classic Final Destination jolt ,heart-pounding, chaotic, and just the right amount of overdone. You know it’s coming, but it still lands. Some of the death sequences were wild in the best way, with a couple that actually made me laugh out loud and wince at the same time. That’s what you come for, right?

The characters are typical FD fare ,not super deep, but just enough personality to get you invested. It’s not reinventing anything, and yeah, it definitely follows the same formula we’ve seen before. But there’s something kind of fun and nostalgic about that. It knows what it is and leans into it.

If you’re a fan of the series or just want a gory, ridiculous night in with some mates, this totally delivers. Don’t expect Oscar-level storytelling, but if you want tension, chaos, and Death being as dramatic as ever, it’s worth the watch.

Not groundbreaking, but definitely entertaining. 7/10 for the fun factor alone.

Sinners

Honestly didn’t know what to expect going in, but I ended up really enjoying it. The music stood out straight away—proper gritty blues that set the mood perfectly and added loads to the atmosphere. I enjoyed it that much I’ve added the soundtrack to my playlists—it’s that good.

The casting was spot on too. Every character felt believable, and the leads had great chemistry. You actually cared about what happened to them, which made the tense bits hit harder.

Gore-wise, it had just the right amount—enough to make you squirm but not over the top. And the horror side really delivered with a couple of proper twists that caught me off guard.

If you’re into horror with a bit of style and soul, definitely give it a go. Solid watch!

Death of a Unicorn

I went into Death of a Unicorn not knowing quite what to expect, but I came out of it pleasantly surprised. It’s rare these days to find a film that feels genuinely original, but this one nailed it. The concept is bizarre in the best way – a unicorn, a weird family dynamic, and things going off the rails in a very gory, very fun fashion.

The cast was great all around. Jenny Ortega was brilliant, as always – she’s got that mix of sharp wit and intensity that really worked here. Paul Rudd brought his usual charm, but with a bit of a twisted edge this time. Richard E. Grant added that classic, slightly creepy energy he does so well. But my absolute favourite character was played by Will Poulter. He stole every scene he was in – funny, awkward, and a little unhinged. I couldn’t take my eyes off him.

What really made the film stand out for me was the balance – it was genuinely funny in parts, but it also had a few solid jump scares that actually got me. The gore wasn’t over the top just for the sake of it – it was creative and added to the madness of it all.

It’s definitely not your average horror-comedy, and that’s what I liked most about it. It took risks, and for the most part, they paid off. It might not be perfect, but it’s refreshing to see something that doesn’t feel like a rehash of a dozen other films.

I definitely recommend if you’re into dark comedy, a bit of gore, and something a little different.

Mickey 17.

I really enjoyed it, the concept was super interesting, and the world-building was done really well. The idea of a disposable worker being constantly regenerated made for some thought-provoking moments, and Robert Pattinson did a great job in the lead role.

Visually, the film looked amazing, and the futuristic setting felt immersive without being overcomplicated. The story had some great twists, and there were definitely a few intense scenes that kept me engaged. However, I did feel that certain parts dragged a bit, especially in the middle. Some scenes seemed to focus too much on atmosphere rather than pushing the story forward, which slowed down the pacing.

One of the standout performances for me was Mark Ruffalo as the cult leader. He brought a really unsettling presence to the role, and at times, I felt like he was channeling aspects of Donald Trump—whether it was the way he spoke, his mannerisms, or the way he manipulated those around him. It added an extra layer to the character and made him feel even more believable.

I definitely think it’s worth a watch, especially for sci-fi fans. It’s not a typical action-packed blockbuster, but if you’re into thought-provoking sci-fi with strong performances, Mickey 17 is definitely worth checking out.

★★★☆☆ (3/5) – Decent, but had noticeable issues.
