In partnership with AutismAble CIC, Sea Change CIC, Youth Music and Arts Council England. Introducing the Future Collaborations Festival: an annual event weaving together the extraordinary talents of neurodivergent and neurotypical musicians. Born from a vision of inclusivity and collaboration, this festival invites you to celebrate diversity in music. Future Collaborations will debut at the Cluny

2, an intimate and atmospheric venue nestled in the heart of Newcastle, on Saturday, August 26th. Backed by the support of Youth Music Charity and AutismAble, our festival serves as more than just an exhibition of amazing music. It's a platform designed to bridge the gap between neurodivergent and neurotypical individuals, raising awareness and understanding through the universal language of music. The festival embodies a grander purpose, providing meaningful work experience to neurodivergent youth. Festival attendees will not only enjoy the musical creations of our diverse lineup, but they'll witness the dedicated work of young individuals mastering a wide range of skills. From set-up to clean-up, artist liaison to stage management, ticketing to marketing, our festival offers hands-on learning opportunities in all facets of event production. These budding professionals will also take on accessibility audits, safety planning, first aid station management, photography, videography, and event stewardship, offering them a rich selection of work experience and potential career paths. Join us at the Future Collaborations Festival for a unique celebration of music, inclusion, and the potential that lies within us all.

Here's our Sam Quinn holding another record that has inspired the sound of The Coastal Smile Project.

The Flaming Lips 'Zaireeka' from 1997.

An album that has it's genesis in the famous Boombox experiments, where the audience was equipped with stereos, with pre-recorded tapes and conducted by the band.

Zaireeka is a very ambitious record, where all 4 CDs had to be played at once for the listener to get the full experience.

The learners are looking to experiment with pre-recorded sound/ Collages and live instrumentation.

They’ll be sharing the night with Ian Black and The Fortunate Nudes (featuring members of SLUG and Field Music), making this an unforgettable celebration of music, creativity, and community.

🎶The Coastal Smile Project

Here is Scott holding the first of many records that have inspired the sound of The Coastal Smile Project.

Terry Riley's 'A Rainbow Curved In Air' from 1969.

The title track consists of Riley's overdubbed improvisations on several keyboards and percussion instruments.

Our musicians will be teaming up with YMCA Northumberland in a one-off workshop exploring drums, electronics, and songwriting to create The Coastal Smile Project. Then, fresh from the day’s session, they’ll be performing live on stage at The Customs House as part of the Mercury Prize Fringe! 🌟
