Thank you to Thames Park Secondary School for hosting a successful in-person CPD session.

Music Education colleagues came together to moderate pieces, share knowledge, and explore opportunities for collaboration.
Delivered through the partnership between Thurrock Music Service and the Greater Essex Music Hub, the session reflected our shared aim to create open, supportive spaces where teachers can learn from one another and strengthen our music community. 🎶

Last week marked an exceptionally busy and inspiring half-term at High House Production Park Thurrock Music Education Hub.

For the first time in a long while, we were delighted to deliver two creative workshops during the half-term: Samba drumming and DJ workshops —both of which received an excellent turnout.
In the Samba drumming sessions, young people learned core rhythmic patterns, worked collaboratively in groups, and built confidence through performance. The DJ workshops proved to be a huge success, with some participants so engaged that they asked to return for a second session.
It was a vibrant period of fun, creativity, and meaningful skill development, giving young people the opportunity to explore new musical pathways in an accessible and inspiring way.
We are pleased to share that DJ lessons are now held at our Saturday School with Thurrock Music Service.

Last week marked an exceptionally busy High House Production ParkBarking And Dagenham Music School at High House Production Park. Thurrock Music Education Hub and Barking and DagenDigby Huntagain came together to deliver the half-term Thames Reach Youth (TRY) Orchestra.

The two-day course brought together over 30 young musicians who worked intensively on new repertoire, achieving the highest standard of playing we have seen to date. The sessions were expertly led by supported by our outstanding team of tutors. We were immensely proud of the students’ focus, progress, and musical maturity.

If you are interested in your young person joining the TRY Orchestra, the next session will take place on Tuesday 26th May. Participants should be Grade 3 and above. To register interest, please email [email protected]

🎶 Two-Day TRY Orchestra Magic!🎶

What a fantastic two days we had on the 27th & 28th of October! Twenty brilliant young musicians and a handful of amazing tutors came together to journey through music and time — learning everything from The Mandalorian and Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious to a popular *K-pop “Demons Slayer” song and a beautiful classical piece.

There was so much resilience, enthusiasm, and joy in every note, and with the inspiring guidance of Digby Hunt and our wonderful tutors, the young people gave an outstanding performance for their parents and carers.

We’re already looking forward to our next TRY Orchestra on the 16th & 17th of February (Spring Edition!)🎻✨

One of the stars of the Lionesses, who scored a key goal in England's semi-final win at Euro 2025, has revealed the role music plays in her life off the pitch.

19-year-old Michelle Agyemang spoke of her love of the piano in a recent interview with BBC Sport, revealing that she even brought her keyboard with her to Switzerland. "I play the piano, the bass guitar and the drums," she said. "I have my piano in my room so I'm spending a lot of time in there just playing and chilling."

"I don't think that there's a day that I go without playing it because it's right in front of me. Especially on game days I probably spend about two hours just playing and enjoying myself."

This half-term week Thurrock Music Education Hub and Barking & Dagenham Music Centre joined forces again to host over 30 young people for the two day TRY orchestra workshops. It was a phenomenal time of learning, teamwork and perseverance. The delivered a stunning performance to the audience and it certainly was one for the books. We eagerly anticipate the next session.
