Our round table on “Unlocking rail freight and the multimodal construction opportunity” at Interchange highlighted just how important collaboration will be in shaping the future of logistics and infrastructure delivery across the UK.

After the discussion, we spoke with a number of industry experts to hear their individual perspectives on the challenges and opportunities ahead.

It was great catching up with Matt Worman, Head of Rail Integration at Transport for Greater Manchester, who shared his thoughts on the importance of long-term strategy, network capacity and stronger regional partnerships as the rail sector evolves.

As Matt highlighted, delivering the right infrastructure and governance will be key to ensuring passenger and freight services can grow together while supporting future infrastructure and construction projects.

As the RHS - Royal Horticultural Society Chelsea Flower Show draws to a close, we look forward to seeing the Breathing Space Garden begin its next chapter.

The concrete elements we've supplied will move to their permanent home at Breathing Space in Rotherham, where the garden will continue to provide a space for reflection, rehabilitation, and wellbeing. It's a reminder that thoughtful design and responsible materials can create lasting impact beyond the event itself.

A key takeaway from our round table on “Unlocking rail freight and the multimodal construction opportunity” at Interchange, was the need to connect the role of rail with the wider industries it supports – from construction and infrastructure to energy and beyond.

Following the discussion, we spoke with several experts to hear their perspectives on how rail freight can support the UK’s future infrastructure and industrial ambitions.

It was great speaking with James Burrow, Head of Rail Supply Chain at the Department for Business and Trade, who shared his thoughts on the importance of joining the dots between sectors and ensuring rail is part of the wider conversation when shaping policy.

As James highlighted, rail has a significant role to play in strengthening the UK’s transport connections and supporting industries as they grow and adapt in a rapidly changing world.

At the heart of this project for the RHS - Royal Horticultural Society Chelsea Flower Show is a net zero concrete mix developed to meet the ambitions of the Breathing Space Garden by Asthma + Lung UK.

The mix was designed using calcined clay technology alongside biogenic aggregates supplied by Low Carbon Materials. The biogenic aggregate replaces the coarse aggregate fraction of the mix and carries a negative carbon value.

With the concrete produced to a C32/40 strength grade, this project represents an art of the possible approach, demonstrating how innovation across materials and logistics can help reduce carbon while maintaining performance and durability.

Here's a look at what happened behind the scenes to help the team achieve such incredible results.

Today at the RHS - Royal Horticultural Society Chelsea Flower Show, we're proud to see the Breathing Space Garden from Asthma + Lung UK come to life.

The net zero concrete elements we supplied, including slabs, benches and canopy structure, have been precast using concrete from our Cambridge concrete plant before being installed at the show. After Chelsea, the garden will be relocated to its permanent home at Breathing Space in Rotherham, where it will continue to support lung rehabilitation and patient wellbeing.

So far, the reactions from guests have been amazing and it's great to see so many people already enjoying the garden!

We're proud to be part of this year's RHS - Royal Horticultural Society Chelsea Flower Show , supplying low carbon concrete for the Breathing Space Garden in support of Asthma + Lung UK.

The garden has been designed with a permanent future in mind, and our role has been to help deliver durable, high-quality concrete elements that reflect both innovation and responsibility. It's a project that demonstrates how materials and design can work together to create something with lasting value beyond the show.

Now all the hard work is done, we're looking forward to the show opening tomorrow!

One of the key themes from our round table on “Unlocking rail freight and the multimodal construction opportunity” at Interchange was the importance of planning logistics earlier when delivering major infrastructure projects.

After the discussion, we spoke with several industry experts to hear their reflections on how construction logistics could evolve in the years ahead.

It was great chatting with Paul Harwood, Freight and Customer Director at Network Rail, who shared his perspective on the opportunity rail freight presents for moving construction materials more efficiently across the network.

As Paul highlighted, planning freight capacity earlier – and improving collaboration between the rail sector and construction industry – could unlock significant opportunities to support major developments and ensure materials are delivered reliably at scale.

That's the end of this year's All-Energy at the SEC Glasgow.

It's been a productive and insightful event, with strong engagement across policy, sustainability, offshore wind and delivery discussions.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to speak to our team!

It's day two of All-Energy in Glasgow.

Today the conversations continue around the role of materials, policy, and collaboration in delivering offshore wind at scale.

Floating offshore wind represents a significant opportunity for the UK. To realise that opportunity, the industry must focus on solutions that are durable, scalable, and aligned with long-term infrastructure goals.

If you are at the event today and want to meet our team, please contact Kate Rudman.
