🐦⬛ 🖤 HELP US UNCOVER THE HISTORY OF NEVERMORE MANOR 🖤 🐦⬛
Before it became Nevermore Manor, this building was The Crown Hotel — and its story stretches back many decades into Skegness’s history.
Our research has already uncovered some fascinating pieces of its past.
The Crown name was associated with Skegness hotels from the early 20th century, with Louie Bourne Smithson and her business partner, Miss Smith, playing an important role in the hotel’s early history. The Crown became an established part of Skegness’s seaside hotel scene, welcoming generations of holidaymakers, locals and visitors.
Over the years, the hotel has witnessed celebrations, holidays, changing generations and, inevitably, some darker chapters too.
But we know that official records can only tell us so much.
The people who stayed there, worked there and lived around it are the ones who hold the stories that don’t always make it into the history books…
👀 AND THAT’S WHERE YOU COME IN.
Were you ever a guest at The Crown Hotel on Drummond Road?
📸 Do you have old photographs of the hotel?
Perhaps holiday photos, family photographs or pictures of the building from years gone by?

Tell us about your visits, the rooms you stayed in, the staff, the atmosphere or anything else you remember.
👻 Did you ever experience anything strange?
Unexplained noises? Strange sightings? Objects moving? Feelings of being watched? Anything that made you wonder whether the Crown had a few permanent residents of its own?
🏨 Did you or someone you know work there?
📜 Do you have old postcards, menus, brochures, letters, newspaper cuttings or memorabilia connected to the Crown?
And perhaps most importantly…
What DON’T we know yet?
We want to uncover as much of the building’s real history as possible as we begin its next chapter as Nevermore Manor.
Some stories may be historical fact.
Some may be family memories.
Some may be local legends.
And some… well, perhaps we’ll leave those for you to decide. 🕯️
