From the Coracle Race Committee and Macmillan Cancer Support, we wish you all a wonderful and joyous Easter. 🐰

It’s easy to forget amongst the paddles, splashes, and laughs that the Coracle World Championships exists for a very special cause.

Since its inception in 2007, we have raised nearly £500,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support in Shropshire - and we’re now aiming to hit the fantastic £500,000 milestone this year.

Enter a team into this year’s Coracle Race and help us reach that milestone. Every pound raised makes the lives of everyone touched by cancer in Shropshire more bearable.

Huge congratulations to TG Group, winners of the 2025 Coracle World Championship — a well-deserved victory after years of trying! They also took home the Top Fundraisers trophy. And a big shout-out to The Bakewell Tarts for winning Best Fancy Dress!

This year’s race was one of the most exciting yet, with a fantastic atmosphere at Pengwern Boat Club. Thank you to all the teams, supporters, and volunteers for making the day such a success and for raising vital funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Special mentions go to:

Shrewsbury Mayor, Alex Wagner, who was official starter for the first race

BBC Radio Shropshire for both entering a team and broadcasting live on the day

Maynard’s Farm Kitchen, whose food was exceptional and delicious

The Water Search and Rescue Team, without whom the race could not take place

Pengwern Boat Club for the use of their facilities (and bar!)

The Boat House pub, whose hospitality at the after-race party was, as always, absolutely brilliant

Tents & Marquees, too!

Finally, a huge thank-you to JT Hughes for their sponsorship, the Macmillan Volunteers (and cake stand crew!), plus Robert Boutflower, whose hilarious commentary is always a highlight. Since 2007, the Coracle Race has raised over £450,000 — and we’ll share this year’s total soon!

There are just two days left to enter a team into this year’s Coracle World Championships! The BBC Shropshire Team are onboard and have already taken to the River Severn for some practice paddling — and they’ll be broadcasting live from the race, too.

It’s not too late to pick your team, grab a paddle, and join the fun in Shrewsbury. Final entries close on 5th September.

👉 Enter a team, or donate, today our website; https://www.coracleworldchampionship.co.uk Who knows — you might even end up World Champions!

🍴 Food & Festivities

We’re delighted to welcome Maynards Farm Kitchen, serving up delicious local, fresh, quality food — with vegetarian options — at Pengwern Boat Club on race day, 12th September.

The Mayor of Shrewsbury is also expected to join us — not in a coracle (let's see tho'), but certainly adding to the fun and community spirit.

🌊 A Day for Everyone

Even if you’re not racing, come along to cheer on the teams, soak up the atmosphere, donate if you can, and enjoy the mayhem from the riverbank in Shrewsbury Quarry Park. Every donation goes directly to Macmillan Cancer Support — so your contribution makes a real difference.

Entries for this year’s race close on 5th September, so there’s still just enough time to gather your team, grab a paddle, and join the fun on the River Severn in Shrewsbury.

If you’ve raced before, you’ll know it’s wobbly, wet, and wonderfully unforgettable. If you haven’t - now’s your chance to be part of one of the quirkiest charity challenges in the country.

Don’t let the boat sail without you — Register today! Enter a team or donate by visiting our website; https://www.coracleworldchampionship.co.uk/

Money raised from the Coracle World Championship Race supports Macmillan's essential work in Shropshire. From diagnosis to treatment and beyond, Macmillan are there every step of the way.

Maynards Farm Kitchen at the Race:

Fuel your paddling (or your cheering!) with mouth-watering food from Maynards Farm Kitchen’s burger van – quality, fresh, local and vegetarian options too. We’re excited to have them on-board for this year’s Race.

BBC Shropshire and the Shrewsbury Mayor will also be there.

Even if you’re not racing, everyone is welcome to support their Teams or just checkout the event for putting in your calendar for next year. Who knows, you could be World Champions!
