Shrewsbury Steam Rally is a fantastic two-day event, organised by The County of Salop Steam Engine Society, that takes place at Onslow Park, Shrewsbury, over August Bank Holiday Sunday and Monday. The event has grown to be an award winning rally being one of the best of its kind in the UK and one of the main events in the Shropshire calendar. Throughout the two days of the rally there are cavalcades of vintage tractors on the move, a convoy of historic commercial vehicles, vintage cycles and perambulators (with many entrants in period costume), pre and post World War II cars, veteran cars, classic motorcycles and steam cars. The ever-popular heavy horses also take their turn in the arena. The past has never been so popular and the Rally is an exciting mix of impressive working machines that capture the history and heritage of farming as it evolved through the last century. Our exhibitors breathe new life into the past with demonstrations from harvesting with reaper binders to chaff cutting and hammer milling, involving many early tractors, rare implements and machinery. We have steam cultivation and teams of shire horses will also be ploughing part of the site to complete the spectacle of pastoral delight! Visitors will be able to take a unique journey back in time when we turn the clock back for two days in the beautiful farming landscape of Onslow Park!

As the sun goes down (and the umbrellas go away!) after another fantastic Shrewsbury Steam Rally, we want to say a huge thank you to everyone who braved the rain and came along to support us. ☔️

Our biggest thank you of all goes to our incredible team of volunteers. Without their hard work and dedication, the rally simply wouldn’t happen.

Now it’s time for a well-earned rest and a chance to recharge… but we’ll see you all again soon!

🚨🔥 IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTICE – NO BBQs OR FIRES 🔥🚨

As we get ready to welcome you to this year’s Shrewsbury Steam Rally over the August Bank holiday weekend, the safety of our visitors, exhibitors, campers and the venue is our top priority.

Due to the continued hot and dry conditions and the increased risk of wildfires, we have made the decision to introduce a strict:

🚫 NO BBQs OR FIRES POLICY 🚫

This means no BBQs (including disposable BBQs), fire pits, campfires or open flames of any kind are permitted anywhere on the rally site or in the camping areas.

Out safety team have clarified the following.
- No solid fuel bbq’s/cookers or fires of any kind including disposables
- No fire pits
- Gas bbq’s and gas hot plates are fine aslong as they mounted on a stable surface off the ground

We can also confirm that steam engines will be in steam. As the fire of a steam engine is enclosed and we have extra safety precautions in place.

We’re increasing our fire safety measures with additional fire team personnel and enhanced firefighting facilities across the site.

📋 Updated site rules will be provided to campers on arrival, and clear signage will be displayed throughout the camping areas.

🙏 We really appreciate your cooperation. We know a campsite BBQ is part of the fun for many people, but with the current conditions, the risk of fire is simply too high. There will be plenty of fantastic catering options available throughout the weekend, so you won’t go hungry!

Children, we need your help!

Some of our rather clumsy team members have managed to lose their keys somewhere around the rally field… and without them, we can’t get into the coal shed!

We need YOU to help us find them on 30th and 31st august!

If you spot a golden key lying around the rally field, bring it along to Rally Control to claim your reward! 🎁
