Shropshire Real Ale Trail

Shropshire Real Ale Trail Award-winning bus-based Real Ale Trail takes you to great pubs, without the worry of driving. Cheers Tickets available from the website.

We run trails in search of good pubs and great ales, all done by bus delivering you to the pub without the need to drive.

The Real Ale Trail will be taking a year off in 2026. 💤 🛌

The event has grown into something special. Packed buses, brilliant pubs, tasty local ale, and a proper community of people who just enjoy a good day out together.

Behind the scenes, the reality has shifted this year. Costs across the board have rocketed, and the unpredictability of ticket volumes makes it harder for all event organisers to run these experiences.

Rather than push ahead and hope for best the we’re choosing to pause.

Think of it as hibernation. The wheels are getting a rest.

To everyone who’s joined us over the years, thank you. You’ve made it what it is.

This isn’t the end. Just a well-timed pit stop.

We’ll keep you posted. Have a great summer!
🍻 Cheers Big Ears!

📍 WHERE
Find us underneath the HUGE marquee at the bottom of Shrewsbury Quarry, SY1 1JA.

🎟️ TICKETS
Tickets are still available online and will be available to purchase on arrival, however, we cannot guarantee that tickets will not sell out on Saturday. If you're planning on coming along, we advise purchasing in advance online.

If you have not yet received your tickets, please check your junk folder. If you’re still unable to locate your ticket, we can search for you on our system.

You do not all need to enter together on one ticket, we simply redeem the people who have arrived and leave the rest so they can arrive later, please give them a copy of the ticket.

(Please be aware that this is an event aimed at adults, where alcohol is consumed so behaviour and language may not be suitable for children.)

🚗 TRAVEL
The roads in Shrewsbury Town Centre are likely to be busy, so please bear this in mind when traveling, and we encourage people to use public transport when they can.
- Bus
There are regular services on Saturday into the town centre bus station, which is a 5-minute walk from the festival. Please check individual timings in the evenings.
- Car
For designated drivers, there are ample long-stay car parks across Shrewsbury that are chargeable - for more information on car parks, please visit the Shrewsbury Council website.
- Train
For convenient and responsible travel, hop on the train. Shrewsbury Quarry is located just a 15-minute walk away from Shrewsbury Railway station.

⚠️ EXTRA SECURITY MEASURES
The safety of our visitors is our top priority, therefore there will be increased security measures at this year’s event.

❌ SEARCHES & BAG RESTRICTIONS
All festival go-ers will be searched on arrival, so please be patient if the queue is a little longer than normal.

If you wish to bring a bag to Shropshire Oktoberfest, please ensure it is no bigger than an A4 piece of paper, 8.27inches x 11.69inches.

⛔️ WHAT CAN’T I BRING
You are not able to bring any sharp items, drinking horns, drones, alcohol, unauthorised or professional film/video equipment, bags larger than A4, umbrellas larger than 30cm, animals (with the exception of assistance dogs), or any item that could be considered for the use of a weapon.

Our security team will be operating bag searches on arrival, and any item that is not suitable will be confiscated to allow entry.

We have plenty of seating all around the marquee so you shouldn’t need to bring additional seating for yourselves such as foldable chairs. If you do, please be patient when the security team searches the item thoroughly.

ℹ️ DOG TEAM
There will be a dog team on site across the weekend and during our festival setup, who will be completing searches across the festival site.

💷 CASH
We recommend bringing cash as well as your bank card, Wi-Fi can be a little hit and miss in the Quarry and we wouldn’t want you to miss out!

🐶 DOGS
Dogs will not be allowed into our festival, unless they are assistance dogs. Shropshire Oktoberfest has loud music, and people consuming alcohol on site, it just wouldn't be safe for your four-legged friends.

🥤 REUSABLE CUPS
On arrival you will be handed a reusable cup, please keep this with you and refill each time you purchase another drink. There will be a cup washing station in the main marquee. Failure to keep hold of your cup incurs a £1 charge each time you are given a new cup.

🍴 FOOD & DRINK
We will not be allowing any alcohol into the festival and your bags will be searched on arrival. You are able to bring your own food, however we have plenty of incredible street food vendors on-site cooking up something tasty!

You can bring an empty water bottle to refill once inside using our water dispensers, but this needs to be empty on arrival.

🚾 TOILETS
We will have toilets across the festival site for you to use. There will be a block of toilets in the street food area, and VIP Toilets can be found at the back of the Start Tech VIP Area.

🥾 WHAT TO WEAR
The event is underneath a huge marquee, but due to the British weather, some of our outside areas, such as the toilets or street food area may become muddy and therefore slippery. Please wear appropriate shoes, maybe not white trainers…

Lederhosen and dirndls aren’t compulsory, but it’s much more fun when you dress up! We’re even hosting a fancy dress competition each day to crown the Best Dressed at Shropshire Oktoberfest 2025!

If you’ve left it too late to buy an outfit, we’ll have a stall selling hats, headwear, eyewear, t-shirts etc. to get you in the party spirit!

🩷 VOLUNTEERS
We have a number of amazing volunteers who work tirelessly over the weekend, so if you see anyone in a pink t-shirt please give them a HUGE thank you, without them, Shropshire Oktoberfest wouldn't be the same!

We can't wait to see you in the Quarry 👋

A gentle start to day 3, Friday, at Shrewsbury CAMRA Beer Festival, to be expected because we're open and ready to welcome you until 10.30 this evening. You can check the status of the beers on the live beer list at https://saws.camra.org.uk/shrewsbury-beer-festival-live-beer-list/ but so far the beers have been drunk relatively evenly so almost all are still available
