NEW DATE FOR THE DIP - HELP US DECIDE

After the cancellation of the NYD Dip, we'd really like to reorganise this event for a later date - we love bringing the community together and we don't want to wait another year for a chance to do this again.

⛔️Sheringham New Year’s Day Dip 2026 – Cancelled ⛔️

Sheringham, we are absolutely devastated to write this.

Despite the monumental effort from our community to find lifeguards, and the incredible support from every single one of you who booked a slot, Mother Nature has had the final word.

The Sheringham New Year's Day Dip 2026 is officially CANCELLED.

Due to forecast high winds and dangerous sea conditions, it would not be safe to proceed with the event, with the maximum wind expected to reach 43mph and waves forecast to exceed 8 foot.

The safety of our dippers & volunteers there to keep you safe on the day must always come first and unfortunately with the forecast as it is, we have taken the really difficult decision to cancel the event.

📢 Please do share this post with anyone you planned to attend the Dip with so they are aware.

We will be looking to rearrange the Dip for a later date - so please watch this space for an announcement on that.

Sheringham, we are thrilled to confirm that thanks to a massive community effort, we have secured lifeguards for New Year's Day.

Safety has always been our number one priority. In light of recent news, we want to reassure you that we are proceeding because we are confident we can provide a safe, controlled environment for our dippers.

We can't wait to see you there on New Year's Day in Sheringham!

To keep everyone safe, we are running a strictly managed event this year:

✅ 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝗶𝗽 𝗶𝘀 𝗦𝗧𝗥𝗜𝗖𝗧𝗟𝗬 𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝟯𝟳𝟱 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲.

For safety reasons, we cannot allow anyone into the water who hasn't officially booked a slot.

While we have the green light today, the North Sea can be unpredictable. This event is 100% weather-dependent.

Please check this page on the morning of the event (Jan 1st) for a final "Go/No-Go" update. If conditions are deemed unsafe by our safety team, we will not hesitate to make the call.

Where does my donation go?

3 days to go until the Dip! Once again, we'll be raising money for local charitable causes, but where do the funds you help raise end up?

Sheringham & Cromer Roundtable are a charitable trust. We support local good causes through donations of our own. In the last 24 months, we've donated to some of these wonderful local groups:

Woodfields School
Holt Youth Project
Sheringham Lifeboat Station
Norwich Men's Shed
