Ride2stride - The Settle-Carlisle Walking & Music Festival ride2stride is an internationally attended week long festival of walks, talks and music along the Settle-Carlisle railway line.

ride2stride is a festival of walks, talks and music along the fabulous Settle-Carlisle railway line. It's a week long celebration of the wonderful landscape and culture of the western Dales and Eden Valley. The festival is made up of lots of events and activities that will be happening along the length of the line. Walks will be led from stations by experienced walk leaders. Speakers will share th

eir local knowledge and love of the area and the pubs will be buzzing with music and song. The walks and music are free and whilst the talks have a small entry fee. ride2stride is for everyone who loves the Yorkshire Dales. Whether you travel to an event by train, live along the line or book your holiday to take advantage of the festival, we're sure you'll have a great time. Dogs on Walks
In regards to the question of dogs on ride2stride Festival Walks, please note: NO DOGS other than registered assistance dogs, will be accepted on ride2stride walks. We know how much people enjoy walking with their dogs, however, spring is a crucial time of year for wildlife and livestock in the Yorkshire Dales. Fields are full of young lambs and newly turned out cattle and the fells are home to ground nesting birds. The festival attracts large numbers of walkers and this decision has been taken In the interest of safety and enjoyment for everyone. It does not affect the walks led by the participating organisations for the rest of the year. We hope you will understand and respect this decision and we look forward to welcoming walkers to ride2stride 2022

Just a month to wait. These are some photos from today's recce. The walk starts at Dent the highest station in the country and follows the river with its many ancient bridges and water falls to Dent Head Farm. From here the walk makes its way up onto Blea Moor following the line of the Settle and Carlisle railway which lies deep in the Blea Moor Tunnell. The views are truly spectacular. We pass the portal of the tunnel and the airshafts with their spoil heaps. We look at the south portal of the tunnel and the aquaduct built in 1875 to carry Ellerbeck over the railway..truly an engineering feat. Finally we reach Ribblehead for refreshments before taking the train home. This is just one of the many walks we are preparing for you. Bring a camera. You might spot a steam train.

The programme will be on the website this evening.
