Congratulations to all the bands who played tonight - it was a really high quality heat and a super tight result. A special well done though to the two acts who have made it through to June's grand final - second placed psych poppers The Vaticans and first placed Brit rockers Spectrum...see you in the final guys!

It's Battle of the Bands time!!! It seems fitting that, a day after the Stone Roses release a slab of 60s tinged psychedelia as their first new music in 21 years, our final band for today's second heat describe themselves as neo-psychedelic indie rock. The Vaticans channel the spirit of Arctic Monkeys and The Beatles but promise experimentation and a true sonic journey. Will they be taking a route straight to the final though? Come along tonight and find out!

Band number four for tomorrow's final will be cranking up the volume and making you move. This competition has a really fine tradition of metal bands, from the ferocity of Manticor to the out and out fun of Lucy's Last Rites. Inspired by Machine Head, Metallica and Slipknot, Selby's latest metal titans Cyanide will be looking to earn their place local folklore and lift the coveted trophy, cementing their position as the greatest young metal band this town has produced. Can they do it? Come along and find out!

Band number three for Friday's final are the only act to be returning from last year's competition. Now five strong, Selby High's Spectrum will be looking to follow in the footsteps of Premonition and The Experiment, both of whom won the entire competition at the second time of asking. Chock full of tunes and bringing anthemic British rock bang up to date, could this be their year? Come along on Friday to find out...

The second band we're looking at for Friday's second heat place themselves firmly in the mould of great grungy indie-rock - think Paramore, Bring Me The Horizon...and the daddy of contemporary duos, Royal Blood. The big sound of Schrödinger comes from Ben and BoB veteran Hannah who finished in third place two years ago with indie folk trio Six Strings. Will that experience as a former finalist pay off? Come along this Friday and find out!

Five days, five bands to countdown before Heat Two kicks off this Friday! First up, it's Pontefract newcomers The Minority playing 'fast and loud' and taking their cues from the likes of Arctic Monkeys, Stone Roses and Imagine Dragons. They may be one of the youngest bands to have entered the competition, but anyone who remembers previous young superstar finalists Rising of the Sun knows youth is ignored at your peril! Can Luc, Nathan, Seth and Ruby emulate their heroics of 2012? Come along this Friday to have your say and find out...

It's BoB2016 day! We open our doors at 7:15pm TONIGHT! Conveniently timed so that bands can compete in both Battle of the Bands and the Tour de Yorkshire! The final band in our preview come from the wilds of Pollington. City in the sky.band bring filmic songs driven by the high energy indie rock of Bastille, The 1975 and Florence and the Machine. Could it be a battle of the songwriters between Joshie Ingham and Fiona Till of Onyx and the Emeralds? Who will triumph? Come along and have your say - tickets available on the door!

Band number three for tomorrow's heat put song writing centre stage. Onyx and the Emeralds bring piano, harmonica, ukulele, bass and guitars as well as four sumptuous voices. With influences as diverse as Mumford and Sons, James Brown and David Bowie, this is a proper musical melting pot. Sounds to nourish the soul. Will this rich, textured sound impress the judges and the audience though? Come along tomorrow and have your say!
