How do we start getting climate changing gasses out of the air?

It’s an essential part of the solution to combating Climate change.

A local project is being launched as part of the great big green week -A Unique community based collaboration between Circular Scarborough and Raincliffe woods community enterprise, that enables the local community to launch a revolutionary new project-ECOLOOP- which is developing nature based. regenerative, solutions to the twin ecological crises. of climate change and biodiversity loss.
This roject uses updated, but traditional, techniques of charcoal making to produce Biochar from local biomass (wood and seaweed) this Biochar will then be used to regenerate the biodiversity of local soils by locking the Carbon away for decades in the soil and also improving plant growth.
A truly virtuous circle!

Come and find out at our two events( 1200-1700hrs. Tues27th and wed 28th at the showground in Raincliffe woods - Have a look at the portable pyrolysis kit we've developed to enable this to happen.
We will also be demonstrating the traditional method of Charcoal making thats been used in Raincliffe for 3000 years!

those of you who’ve been with Sustainable Scarboroughfrom the beginning will know that the group was it was set up to meet a demand that Scarborough joined the Transition Town Network. But - because of the rules of that organisation we weren’t allowed to call ourselves Transition Town Scarborough!

The impetus behind the TT network was Peak oil. See. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peak_oil. I disagreed with that premise but did support the core sim of SS “to inform and educate the local community about the need to transition away from our unsustainable development. particularly in terms of fossil fuel dependence.

inthink the level of awareness of that need is now so widespread and avknowledged that we need to refocus on actually achieving a transition?
So I’m proposing to change the name of SS to “Just Transition Scarborough.”

Ill let Jocinda Ariders explain why (she’s better at it than I). Just remember when she says New Zealand to imagine she’s saying Scarborough!
