Spotlight on guest poet:
Emma-Jane Barlow (EJ) is a neurodivergent author, poet, workshop facilitator and advocate from Manchester. She began her writing journey at seven. She weaves tales from her life experiences and explores themes such as autism, hope, love and loss. Her works include "Darkness & Light" (2020) and "Sins & Sunflowers: Second Edition" (2023). She has had her work recognised in both print and online, including being longlisted for the Heroica Poetry Prize in 2024 and runner-up in the Happiful Poetry Prize in 2025.

EJ has poems featured in various publications, including The Raven Review, The Anti-Misogyny Club Journal, Flare Lit Magazine and Ink Gladiator Press. She has performed her work live on BBC Radio Manchester, performed alongside Mike Garry and had her poems featured on various podcasts. She currently facilitates an online workshop series called Holding Space ( on Instagram) and is also working on her 3rd poetry book and other exciting creative projects. Sadly- I need to report that we will not be doing our 3rd Monday night this month- I forgot it was moved forward to the 2nd Monday for Refract!

Monday 15th spotlight on guest poet:-

Jolivia Gaston performance poet, writer and author. Mixed heritage lives in West Didsbury, Manchester. A member of Manchester Women Writers group.
Has worked on the theme Black Lives Matter;
Attended Parrswood High School, Didsbury for Black History Month, working with year 8 & 9 and year 7 & 8. My self published book, No In Between was part of the curriculum.
Performance poetry at Word Central, Manchester, and Hosted Write Out Loud, Sale Art Center.
I still continue to create poetry which I love but have decided to try my hand on a children's novelett.
Writing for me is freeing the mind, exploring different alternatives, telling stories, the pain and laughter we all experience in life.

We still have space for Lgbtqi poets(family,friends & allies) to help celebrate PRIDE & open mic slots. All poetry lovers welcome!

Monday night was a wonderful relaxing evening of seeing the Pansies exhibition in situ -a moving exhibition of older lgbtqi stories & pansies planted where q***r bashing has occurred. I brought materials & a small selection of my own collages & we created our own collages & words … I was gifted the leftover PRIDE pamphlets & had a ball collaging it into something new PROUD PANSIES & gifting it to Jo working on box office. Linda read us poems from a PRIDE anthology she contributed to. 2 hours of therapeutic collage & poetry!
