Roundheads at the Old Sun Inn! Saffron Walden steps back to 1647 as history comes alive thanks to The Sealed Knot Society Official, Love Saffron Walden and Saffron Walden Heritage Development Group. At this time, Oliver Cromwell is believed to have visited what is now the Old Sun Inn while in town as a Parliamentary Commissioner, negotiating with the New Model Army over disbandment and unpaid wages

Pargeting stamps given to us by the previous owner of the building, Paul Lankester. When better weather comes in the spring 🤞we are conserving more of the pargeting as part of our ongoing project. Pargeting is a heritage art and craft using decorative motifs and sculptural forms in plaster on exterior walls. The Old Sun Inn is famous for its extensive pargeting, which dates from the 17th century onwards.
