Barkway Village Market

Barkway Village Market Annual charity event in Barkway, North Hertfordshire on Saturday 9 May 2026!! Over 180 stalls, with refreshments & entertainment.

A quintessential English day out - Barkway Market has become a Hertfordshire tradition in its own right! The origins of Barkway Market can be traced back to medieval times 1270; being 35 miles from London & 15 miles from Cambridge, Barkway is part of the old London to Cambridge coaching route. In recent years, our now annual Market it is set in the grounds of one of Barkway’s attractive old houses

called Manor Farm and has become a Hertfordshire tradition in its own right - typically attracting around 4,000 visitors from miles around. Nowadays the market is organised by a team of volunteers on behalf of Barkway Village Hall which is a registered charity and hosts many of Barkway’s community groups. Proceeds go towards the running of the hall and in 2022/23 were distributed more widely to local community groups and projects for the young and old alike; from a weekly toddler group to a monthly village luncheon. The Market is also an opportunity for local organisations to raise funds including the Barkway Church, Friends of Barkway Church, Barley & Barkway Schools Federation, Barkway Preschool, The 7th Royston Barkway Scout Group. In 2023 over £17,750 was collectively raised by the Market and other organisations who supported it on the day! Parking is provided with a suggested donation of £1 to the Barkway Scouts and there's a small charge of £4 per adult for admission, children 16 and under go free. There will be a range of entertainment booked to entertain the young and old alike, from children's entertainers to music from the Royston Town Band. Come and enjoy a quintessentially English day out in beautiful surroundings. If you would like to book a pitch please email: [email protected]

**ARE YOU READY TO ENJOY YOUR DAY WITH US?**
Barkway Market 2026 will be open to visitors on Saturday 9 May from 10am – 4pm.
How to get the most out of your day:
Book your tickets online if you can - link in bio. Adult tickets cost £5 - all proceeds raised go towards our local community. 16s and under are free. Dogs are welcome too and we will have bowls of water placed around the event.
Please download your tickets to your mobile in advance, or print the email you'll receive as reception can be a bit patchy in our lovely village! Our volunteers will then check your tickets and stamp your hand on arrival.
We will also accept card and cash payments on the day if you prefer.
Read our Barkway Market Guide 2026 - link in bio - and plan your day. We have lots of stalls, activities, food, drink and entertainment for all ages to enjoy!
On the day!
Follow the signs for parking and pedestrian access. We have ONE entrance into the Market via Manor Farm. There will be a suggested donation of £2 for car parking, which goes directly to Barkway Scouts who marshall the car park.
If you need a little help on the day, we do have a disabled access drop off point by the school. We just ask that you're dropped off before your driver follows the signs to our car park.
PLEASE NOTE: We are unable to allow any large vehicles (such as vans/campervans/large pickups) to park in our field. Additional parking may be available near Barkway Village Hall. Our marshalls will be able to direct you. There are Blue Badge spaces available in the Main Car Park.
Arrive, enjoy and have a great day. 😄
Please feel free to bring a chair to sit and enjoy Manor Farm’s Secret Garden. There will be hay bales to sit on in our Food Court (please refrain from smoking or va**ng in this area).
