Romsey Beggars Fair Romsey's annual FREE summer festival of music & dance returns for the 32nd time, 11am to 5pm Saturday 11th July 2026 Applications close on 31 January each year.

Romsey Beggars Fair is a one-day free festival of music, dance and street entertainment held on the second Saturday of July in Romsey, Hampshire. In the streets and in venues throughout Romsey the best of local performers bring you folk, jazz, blues and world music, colourful dance displays and children’s entertainment. The Beggars Fair has been running since 1993 and is living up to its aims of showcasing local talent in a friendly environment. From big bands on the Cornmarket main stage to intimate acoustic music in tranquil gardens, cheerful pub sessions and spellbinding storytelling, the day has a great atmosphere that keeps bringing people and performers back year after year. Performers at the Beggars Fair are from all styles and genres of music and range from seasoned professionals to new artists just starting out. There is an open application process, and we aim to choose acts that are:
- Local: within about 25-30 miles of Romsey (extends to Southampton, Bournemouth, Salisbury, Basingstoke, Portsmouth);
- Original: either performing original material or with an original take on existing or traditional material;
- New to the Beggars Fair: our aim is to have at least a third of acts each year performing at the Beggars Fair for the first time

If you'd like to perform at the Beggars Fair please apply at www.beggarsfair.org.uk/take-part/. At the Beggars Fair everyone is a star! All acts get equal billing regardless of whether they are established acts or new to the game.

The 2026 Music in the City programme is printed and now available 🎸 It’s initially in 18 of our participating venues.

It’s a 44 page comprehensive guide to the event that takes place next weekend on the 12th September, including the complete lineup of 400+ acts who are performing across 60 different Southampton venues.

These printed guides will be available on the day, for free, via our host venues and from our team of volunteer helpers across the city 🙏.

This was made possible through local businesses and partners in the music scene advertising in this guide, thank you all for your support, we really appreciate this and your taking part in the event. And big thanks to our sponsors Go! Southampton, the city’s business improvement district.

No surprise that some details have already changed since this went to print, so inevitable errors are now included. Nothing we can do about this now! But our website listings will continue to be updated, up until the day before, so we encourage you to use and enjoy our printed guides but also refer to our website for the very latest listings.
