Rochford Running Club

Rochford Running Club Rochford Running Club (RRC) was formed in 2012 to serve the community of Rochford (Essex)

Whether you are an absolute beginner or a seasoned ultra-marathon runner, there is a place for you at RRC. Our beginner groups take those new to the sport from not running at all up to 3 miles continuously in 12 weeks (or sooner). Those that catch the bug move into the 'improvers' groups, with many signing up for, and completing, their very first competitive races. Those aiming for more demanding

events, such as the London Marathon, will also find the help, advice and assistance they need to cover the distance come race day. We have several experienced members who have completed a number of endurance events - all of whom are keen to show others how to take on an extreme challenge.

As always, we love doing our trail runs in the summer, and when planning the sessions, what better way to enjoy our very own XC route, then in the beautiful summer time…

Well…cue the weather gods, who pretty much turned our route into almost a clsssic winter XC route; but it was perfect. The rain had stopped by the time we got going, the sun was out, and it made for a beautiful evening run.

With 3 routes, all adapted around our very own XC route; each route was catered for all abilities that we host within the club. You don’t get any better than these summer night runs 😮‍💨😮‍💨.

Take us back to Saturday 😎

An awesome parkrun attendance by the RRC crew on Saturday.

We saw the team over at Southend, on what was a scorcher!

As always, there were our tourists out and about too!

Finally, we had Dave out at the Folkestone 10K yesterday!

Great running all, and have an awesome week!

Admin’s top tip; avoid the A127 London bound!

Whilst admin is stuck in traffic on the 127, it seems like a good time to update what RRC has been up to over the last 7 days!

As per usual, we had our runners out and about here there and everywhere doing what they love most; parkrun!

We then had the Thameside 10K Sunday, which turned out to be one hot race 🥵🥵.

Then finally we finished the week off on the Thursday with our joint track session with Pitsea, and Jo and Debbie taking over the session!

Tomorrow we celebrate Debbie’s 250th parkrun and Scott’s 100th (if he’s up in time!). Here’s to the weekend! Enjoy! 🩵🖤

It’s been a busy week at RRC.

Tuesday we had the Phoenix Striders Summer Series, and the gang back at home took on the Southend Stairs effort session.

Then Thursday we had the gang running around the Rayleigh 10K route, but also runners attending the Chelmsford Brewery 10K. A tough run, but beautiful conditions, met with a perfect partnering beer at the end!

As we approach this absolutely gorgeous bank holiday; we have parkruns, Thameside 10K as well as our runners out and about doing their weekend runs.

Have a great bank holiday all, and remember; keep cool and hydrated in the heat when running! 🫡🖤🩵

As RRC heads down to Summer Series event tonight; let’s look back at what RRC got up to out on parkrun this weekend!

As always the tourism was far and wide (and international).

Looking forward to what this weekends parkrun entails already!!

After Steve kick started the weekend on Thursday, we had a flurry of activity over the weekend.

Well done to everyone that competed in both the South Woodham and Colchester Stampede 10K!

In the South Woodham 10K we saw the gang tackle a tough course with Stuart coming in 4th place.

Then we had our runners competing in the Colchester Stampede, with all our competing runners getting a 10K PB!! 👊👊

Another cracking week ahead of us, starting with Round 2 of the Phonenix Striders Summer series!

Happy Saturday… wait; it’s not Saturday??

Apologies for the confusion there; however Steve gave us a curveball by managing to parkrun today… on a THURSDAY!?

Steve who is one of our active parkrun tourists went over to Denmark this Accession day and did the Amager Fælled parkrun this morning, and what a beautiful day it seemed there too! Well done, Steve; thanks for keeping RRC on the map!

And here is our 6th runner!!

Karen achieved two feats yesterday; a new marathon PB (with an incredible time of 3:04:55), and 1st female at the Halstead and Essex marathon! 🥳🥳🏆🥇

On what is a tough course; as always, absolutely incredible running Karen! Again, everyone at RRC is proud of you!

The day after a marathon…

It’s medal Monday, and we had 6 superstars yesterday running the Halstead & Essex Marathon.

With chairman Tom cheering on from the finish line we saw:

James complete his first ever marathon; great achievement James!
Jess complete her first ever marathon, and vowed “never again”. Never say never Jess 😉.
Anthony completing his 3rd marathon, and his first of two for the year.
Steph completing her second marathon, and destroyed her previous time by 25 minutes!!
Sean, again completing his first marathon too and first words were “it hurts” 😅. This shows you run your heart out Sean! 👊

Everyone at RRC is beyond proud with all your achievements, and for the those first timers; welcome to the club!

But wait… where is our 6th runner… 🤔

As the RRC gang head out to parkrun this morning we do hope Thursday’s effort session hasn’t worn everyone out too much and that there’s still plenty of energy left for the weekend run!

Thursday’s session featured partner relays, testing our speed over 300m efforts with short recoveries. While the pace was high, the main focus of this training block continues to be running posture; helping us avoid bad habits and get the very best from our running.

Well done to everyone who took part on Thursday, and happy parkrunning everyone!

Oh… is there also a marathon happening this weekend too…? 🤔
