It is that time of year . 2 weeks time all will be revealed . Hope to see you at Newby Hall & Gardens on the 27th September. Until then we have recruited our guard

You may like to know how your entry is judged

Every entry goes through the same criteria
up to 10 points are given for taste
up to ten points - set
up to ten points - presentation - Please note in commercial entries these have to comply with all the rules set out by the food producers governing body and be written on the labels

Entries that get 25 to 27 points will all be awarded a bronze certificate
28 /29 points will be for a silver certificate and
30 points will achieve gold

The overall gold winner of each category will then be chosen from a second judging .

In the Commercial section -
The overall winner will have the chance to sell their produce at Newby Hall the following season .

The jars are arriving thick and fast now ... never mind it is the last week to enter , yours still have time to arrive. These were all safely here with Royal Mail . Thanks to our cheerful postman Neil

A month to go so please think to get your entries in sooner rather than later . Here are a few that have just come in an some interesting ones too . Again having to get the world map out to see where some of the places are . It is with great sadness that we have the news of Christine Bentley's passing.
Christine was the main helper behind the scenes from Day 1 . She along with her son,James, beautifully knitted yards and yards of bunting for our event. When it was all tangled up at the end of the day she always pressed and ironed it and unravelled it . Christine was a judge and also sponsored the children's section. Her support from the beginning was unwavering and dedicated to making the World Jam Festival what it is today.
Christine will be sadly missed .

6. What happens if my jar(s) arrive broken?

If your jar arrives broken, we will notify you immediately. You can then send us a replacement jar without paying any additional entry fee. Please track your entries carefully if you are sending them in the post. Do not panic if you have been notified that your parcel has been delivered but you have not received confirmation from us - it takes a while for entries to be processed. We appreciate your patience, as all parcels have to be unwrapped and logged before you are notifi ed. —

Well the day has dawned and the 2026 jam festival entries are now open. We are delighted to say that Catherine who has recently taken over as CEO of the Yorkshire Air Ambulance is on board and will be one our judges . She loved making jam and is going to enter some so we will have to have her judging some in the Mens categories
