Well the day has dawned and the 2026 jam festival entries are now open. We are delighted to say that Catherine who has recently taken over as CEO of the Yorkshire Air Ambulance is on board and will be one our judges . She loved making jam and is going to enter some so we will have to have her judging some in the Mens categories

You may like to know how your entry is judged

Every entry goes through the same criteria
up to 10 points are given for taste
up to ten points - set
up to ten points - presentation - Please note in commercial entries these have to comply with all the rules set out by the food producers governing body and be written on the labels

Entries that get 25 to 27 points will all be awarded a bronze certificate
28 /29 points will be for a silver certificate and
30 points will achieve gold

In the Commercial section -
The overall winner will have the chance to sell their produce at Newby Hall the following season .

With over 1400 people coming through the gates in 2026 we all felt it was an amazing event .

So with less than one month to go before entries open for this year World Jam Festival we will be updating you with what will be happening this year . Held again by kind permission of Mr and Mrs Compton at Newby Hall on Sunday 27th September . It will be held in the Grantham Room next door to the Dolls House Display

Previously, we have had a gold, a silver and a bronze winner in each category. There were many disappointed entrants who did not receive these accolades and as we have always said as the World Jam Festival continues to grow, so does the energy, creativity and sheer talent of our incredible entrants. Every year we are blown away by the time taken and originality on display, and we know that limiting recognition to just a few awards can mean some truly fantastic contributions don’t get the spotlight they deserve. That’s why we’re excited to be exploring how our scoring system can evolve — so we can celebrate even more of the amazing achievements that make this festival so special.

While the Founder’s Favourite has always been recognised sadly will not be a category in the future .To be honest, the sugar overload that comes with it is just too much and it was quite scary for a couple of days afterwards after the dedicated Founder sat down and tasted all the jars in one day .

Thank you again to Mr and Mrs Compton who own Newby Hall, Stuart, Sarah and Alex and their wonderful Team . The gentleman who runs the cafe - for keeping us in refreshments - you really must go when it opens next year for the food and lovely sitting area , the lads who helped carry the jam boxes. The gardeners who made the gardens look so wonderful and let us through their passageway -"secret quick way- in door" .
Last but not least our sponsors who gave some amazing prizes- Mason of Yorkshire and Ceramics Inspirations ,Bridge Street Framers in Helmsley . To Nancy and Christine who gave hours of their time . To the judges who work in busy kitchen and saw me at 9.30pm when service was still running .To my "computer man" Shane Murphy of SiteArt who dug me out of deep holes. at all times of the day and night. To my husband who had to fend for himself on many occasions.

Thank you to all that attended on Sunday and hopefully you were able to support our stall holders who in turn support the YAA. If anyone is looking to have a stand for 2026 please ring 07977113197 - the footfall was around 1400 through the gates . We are only able to let stands to bonafide traders with their own insurance as well as commercial jam makers .So everyone was very happy this year and we hope to grow. Thank you to Kevin from YAA who gave up his day to come out of his area to run the stand

I hope the silver and bronze winners have now got their certificates too . If there are any mistakes on your certificate please let me know My head wasn't altogether there as one of Jacks dogs jumped a 5 bar gate this morning and died after being hit by a car so had to sort it all out
