The organisation also runs a variety of screenings throughout the year to bring more international independent cinema to local audiences as well as various events an

d workshops. The Festival focus is to show new works and help promote film makers. Screenings are complemented by a strong programme of quality events and seminars, with industry professionals of high reputation, who have already confirmed their attendance. All screenings are chosen by the Selection Committee, which is composed of a panel of industry professionals and local residents. To add to the experience, festival goers will have the opportunity to explore the area rich in culture, maritime heritage and historic architecture, and enjoy its waterside and cafés.

Thanks to the Ramsgate International Film & TV Festival for choosing the Palace as the venue for two wonderful documentaries exploring the beginnings of film and TV!

The premiere of Ben Barton - filmmaker and poet’s new short film IS FOLKESTONE THE BIRTHPLACE OF TV? traced John Logie Baird’s earliest experiments and screenings not to Hastings, as per the history books, but to a secret basement in Folkestone. The festival screenings then closed with THE FIRST FILM, David Nicholas Wilkinson’s epic journey to discover whether the first film was made not in the US or France but in Leeds. Fascinating Q&As with Ben and David afterwards.
