Alan was a one-off! He was a gentleman and loved to help in any capacity he could - he was our H&S Officer from day one; our man on the decks for the seniorโs Christmas parties; a conveyor at community meetings. He taught us life can be serious, but a bit of rib tickling, a smile and a good sense of humour gets you through everything. But, most of all he was our dear friend ๐
Will miss you Alan. Our love and thoughts are with Margaret and his much loved family
R.I.P Alan
VERY sad news that one of West Lothian's best-known community stalwarts, Alan Scott, passed away yesterday, from a brain tumour.
As a police officer in the county for many years, a board member and safety officer at Livingston Football Club and a lecturer at West Lothian College, there weren't many areas of West Lothian community life that Alan didn't impact on.
He was also a well-loved DJ and could be found delivering his unique brand of entertainment at many functions and charity presentations across the county.
But Alan, from Livingston, who turned 70 a few months ago, will probably more recently best be remembered as the man with the mic at the Miss West Lothian charity event, where he helped raise tens of thousands of pounds for local good causes. He was already in dicussion with organiser Rachel Adam about compering the 2024 event.
Rachel, a former Miss West Lothian winner said: "He was such a big part of Miss West Lothian and was so loved."
Numerous other former Miss West Lothian winners also paid tribute to Alan: Maria Przybylska said: "This is so sad. Alan lived for Miss West Lothian." Claire Molloy said: "I am so devastated to hear this." Jade Manson said: "He was such an amazing compere and such a lovely man." Ashley Woods said: "This is so sad, he was the best." Former organiser Emma Hanley said: "That's so sad, Alan did a lot for Miss West Lothian."
Eddie Anderson, who ran the Miss West Lothian event for 25 years and worked closely alongside Alan said: "Alan's death is tragic. He was a wonderful man, who cared so much about his local community. I was privileged to know him and learnt so much from him.
"He will be greatly missed by many."
