12/12/2014
Well, 2014 has been quite the rollercoaster of a year for us - we began the year on the back of our 1st ever festival (2013) hoping to bring you a 2nd installment in May. Weeks before that was to happen, sadly our main headliner and their US support had to pull out which threw much of what he had in store up in the air. We did manage to put on 2 of our bands as a great 6 hour gig and 4 DJ Clubnight and refunded many people who mainly coming for the headliners, but still was a big loss financially.
We then were looking to begin to look towards Feb 2015 but just as we about to launch the 3rd event, we had news our home venue 53 Degrees was to close at the end of this year. Thankfully, we've had a repreive of sorts (just the downstairs now is closing), and Dark-Cide as a clubnight will be back in 2015 in the upstairs Clubroom of 53 Degrees - starting Sat 14th Feb - and will be EVERY 2ND SAT OF THE MONTH from then on :)
As to the festival - to be honest, these take so very very long to put together and such large financial risk, we won't now be looking to do a festival in '15, but may try again for Feb '16.
However, despite the downs 2014 for us actually has been a really good year too. Looking back, we had all these excellent acts play live for us:
Combichrist (Dec '14) (pictured here*)
William Control (Dec '14)
Naked lunch (Dec '14)
Zombina and the skeletones *official* (May '14)
Jensen (May '14)
Vince Ripper and The Rodent Show. (March '14)
Which is collectively an awesome lineup and ones we're very proud of (and cheers to everyone who came along for all those shows).
So, lets see how the new year goes and if we do look towards doing another big event - we'll give you a big heads uyp to be able to plan ahead well in advance.
Cheers to you all
DJ Jane Dalton (Dark-Cide organiser)
