Dark-Cide Fest

Dark-Cide Fest Coming Sat May 10th, 2014. Our second big indoor festival from the Dark-Cide, now in it's 13th year Dark-Cide-Fest is back !

Our very first one back in 2013 was a great event and featured bands from Europe and USA. This one is just as ambitious and we can't wait to tell you who we've got in store. Our festival will be a great mix of the kinds of music we play on our clubnights and featuring bands which cross genres and divides and push music boundaries forwards. But we're aiming for this to be a fun and spectacular even

t and hope you can come along for this very this one. Our venue is *AMAZING* if you've never been before (again please check our website for lots of photos of it). Sat 11th May 2013 - DARK-CIDE-FEST began
SAT 10TH MAY 2014 - DARK-CIDE-FEST RETURNS !!!

Well, 2014 has been quite the rollercoaster of a year for us - we began the year on the back of our 1st ever festival (2013) hoping to bring you a 2nd installment in May. Weeks before that was to happen, sadly our main headliner and their US support had to pull out which threw much of what he had in store up in the air. We did manage to put on 2 of our bands as a great 6 hour gig and 4 DJ Clubnight and refunded many people who mainly coming for the headliners, but still was a big loss financially.

We then were looking to begin to look towards Feb 2015 but just as we about to launch the 3rd event, we had news our home venue 53 Degrees was to close at the end of this year. Thankfully, we've had a repreive of sorts (just the downstairs now is closing), and Dark-Cide as a clubnight will be back in 2015 in the upstairs Clubroom of 53 Degrees - starting Sat 14th Feb - and will be EVERY 2ND SAT OF THE MONTH from then on :)

As to the festival - to be honest, these take so very very long to put together and such large financial risk, we won't now be looking to do a festival in '15, but may try again for Feb '16.

However, despite the downs 2014 for us actually has been a really good year too. Looking back, we had all these excellent acts play live for us:

Combichrist (Dec '14) (pictured here*)
William Control (Dec '14)
Naked lunch (Dec '14)
Zombina and the skeletones *official* (May '14)
Jensen (May '14)
Vince Ripper and The Rodent Show. (March '14)

Which is collectively an awesome lineup and ones we're very proud of (and cheers to everyone who came along for all those shows).

So, lets see how the new year goes and if we do look towards doing another big event - we'll give you a big heads uyp to be able to plan ahead well in advance.

Cheers to you all

DJ Jane Dalton (Dark-Cide organiser)

Here's some amazing photographs from our Combichrist concert a few days back on Weds 10th December - taken by Marek Isalski (who took those great photos of our Dark-Cide Fest back in May 2013). Know a fair few people who're on our festival page are all around the UK, so if you missed our gig in Preston, they're also playing Glasgow TONIGHT at Classic Grade, and then London and Bristol this weekend. The gig we had was *AMAZING* and can't recommend enough to get to one of these remaining dates if you missed them already. The tour also features William Control (who we're huge fans of and who played our DCFest also back in 2013) and electronic pioneers Naked Lunch

B&W film shots to follow, just some colour Combichrist for now!

COMBICHRIST / WILLIAM CONTROL Ticket update and 24 Hour Sale: all's going *really* well and huge thanks to everyone who's bought tickets and we're on 183 so far, so we're just approaching the half way mark which is really exciting!! We've plenty of tickets left at our 53 Degrees outlets, but only 5 left via our website (which have no booking fee) - so with it being payday, we're going to have a special 24 hour sale on those last tickets from our Dark-Cide website, with No Booking Fee and FREE POSTAGE! - http://www.dark-cide.com/

Given that our venue 53's sadly still up in the air for next year and the whole huge unfortunate drama that's been going down with another event (and massively sad to see so many people loosing out on that), I've put on the backburner the launching of the next Dark-Cide Fest (and tbh as I was planning to do it as a 'kickstarter' and try and raise £2000-£5000 to put towards my initial investment and I'm now very very glad I haven't done that!).

I'm def still wanting to do a mixed festival like I did back in 2013 with a broad range of acts and maybe over a one or two day period (initially), and even though the last one lost me about £5000 as we were about 200 people short of breakeven, despite all that it was still one of the biggest events I'd done at 53 Degrees and still one of the proudest (and hardest) things I'd ever put on. The question is, given especially what's gone on recently, would people want me to try ?

Some fabulous photos of Jensen who played our 2014 6 hour/stripped back event on May 10th. Was their *debut* show and had great feel of NIN and Pitshifter influences to name but a few. Great guys and look out for more shows from them around the country as we predict big things for them!!

I'm just looking ahead to next year, and thinking Feb might be the best time to put on Dark-Cide-Fest for 2015. The 2nd sat is Valentines Day (Feb 14th!) - do you think this would be a very bad time to have it ? I'm looking at other dates too, but would love to hear your thoughts
