The Jim Clark car rally will take place from the 22nd to the 24th May. This event will involve closing roads around the Longformacus and Abbey St Bathans area. Due to this there will be marshalls assisting Southern Upland Way route users at the B6355 between 7pm and 10pm on Friday 22nd May. Please follow all instructions given by the marshalls and be aware that there may be a short wait.

"Mark McArdle is a 55-year-old endurance runner originally from Glasgow, Scotland, taking on the formidable Race Across Scotland.

Mark is running to raise awareness for men’s mental wellness and su***de prevention through his campaign, “Are You Okay”. The campaign encourages honest conversations, connection, and early support for men who may be struggling in silence.

"I’m stepping into the RAS not just to compete, but to prove that being a dedicated dad to two children, a committed husband, a full-time teacher, a running coach, a business owner, and someone who organises a community 5K every Sunday doesn’t mean putting limits on what you’re capable of. If anything, it fuels the drive to push further.

After recent wins in ultra win Wales and breaking the course record at Plymouth HOPE GB ultra event—covering 145 miles in 36 hours—I’ve seen what’s possible when discipline meets purpose.

Now, I’m setting my sights even higher, aiming to test both my physical and mental limits by taking on the challenge of completing 200 miles on foot in a single effort.

"Having been a runner for over 36yrs, most of my running has been on the roads, completing 35 competitive road marathons along the way.

During Covid I discovered ultra running and found I really enjoyed the mental and physical challenges they entail. Have now run around 30 ultras with the Summer Spine 2025 the longest to date .

Looking forward to my first ultra in Scotland and my first with GBUltras."
