The Council will soon start an engagement exercise (May 29- August 20) where residents can have their say on its current Active Travel Network Map – which outlines the existing walking and cycling routes in Rhondda Cynon Taf, along with proposed new routes that are being planned and developed for the future.

Online, residents will be able to visit the Let’s Talk Engagement website for information about the consultation, along with a questionnaire where feedback can be formally submitted.

There will also be opportunities for residents to take part offline, with face-to-face public events currently being arranged. These will take place across several communities – with locations, times and dates to be confirmed soon.

Join 2 million people for Great Big Green Week, running from 6 to 14 June 2026.
Great Big Green Week is the UK’s biggest celebration of action on climate change and nature, bringing together communities across the country to take part in practical, positive action.
Friends, neighbours and colleagues will come together through schools, community groups, charities, faith organisations and local initiatives to show what collective action looks like in everyday life.
In Pontypridd we'll be kicking off on the 6th June with a visible mending workshop at Purple Shoots and on 13th June we'll have stalls in Storyville Books with Fairtrade Pontypridd Masnach Deg, Growing Space Pontypridd and others plus a screen printing workshop with Tir Pontypridd! In the evening of the 13th there's a gig in Zucco - Pontypridd. Meadow Street Community Garden will be hosting Green Week activities too.

Community Screen Printing Workshop @ Storyville Books, Saturday 13th June 10am – 4pm.

We're inviting members, friends, and supporters of Tir Pontypridd to join us for a community screen printing workshop with Cardiff based, sustainable clothing brand Over Seas apparel!

We regularly get asked where people can get their Tir Pontypridd branded t-shirt or hoodie from.

So, for Great Big Green Week, we're challenging you to source your item of clothing as sustainably as possible to bring along to our Community Screen Printing Workshop.

It might be an item you own, one you find in a local charity shop, or from your favourite sustainable clothing supplier. We'll also have a limited selection of blank t's on sale from Over Seas Apparel, too.

🦋💙 Save the Small Blue at Cwm Tips – Crowdfunder launched today! 💙🦋

Today we’re launching our ‘Save the Small Blue at Cwm Tips’ Crowdfunder, and we’d love your support.

Cwm Tips, near Beddau, is one of the most important wildlife sites in the South Wales Valleys. It supports over 600 species of invertebrates, including more than 50 species of bees, rare millipedes, orchids, and threatened butterflies. Among the most special is the Small Blue butterfly - our smallest butterfly species, and one of the few inland populations in the region.

However, the flower-rich grasslands that this butterfly depends on have declined over the past decade due to scrub encroachment and invasive species, particularly Cotoneaster. Without action, vital habitat - including the Kidney Vetch the Small Blue needs to survive - will continue to be lost.

If we reach our target, this crowdfunder will enable us to:

🌼 Restore flower-rich grassland
✂️ Tackle invasive species and scrub
🦋 Safeguard habitat for the Small Blue and other rare wildlife
🌿 Protect a site that matters for both nature and the local community
