It’s been a while since I posted. It’s been a while since I raced. But the news I received today is worth a mention.
Last year I entered the Gloucester 24 hour track race on a whim and out of curiosity as to how I’d fare.
Unexpectedly I won. And got a Sparta qualifier. Which led to an actual place on the start line in Athens. But then COVID-19 happened 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️ and the Spartathlon dream faded...
So, to find myself this year on the *ELITE* start line in Gloucester is blimmin’ unbelievable!
I’ll be toeing the line with some amazing competitors and am humbled...

It’s been a while since I posted. It’s been a while since I raced. It has not been a while since I ran however. We’ve hit the mid point of the year. Today is day 182 to be precise. I have apparently had 189 runs this year to date, have covered 1604 miles and have climbed 207,930ft. That’s 7 Everest summits and a bit.
But the stats don’t really matter. What matters is that running continues to be the thing that I do every day. Some days it’s fun and fabulous. Some days it’s a chore. But each day it’s therapy. It’s a release, a challenge, and a privilege. So what I think I am trying to say is that, as we continue to navigate the chaos that is life at the moment, whilst blindfolded and shooting at moving targets, I am forever grateful for the gift that is running. Take care my friends. And thank you for keeping me company on my adventures.

I have a very special connection the coast path and the SWCPA as all of you will know. So I have to shout out about this. The path does not magically look after itself. The South West Coast Path Association is a registered charity and a volunteer led organisation. All of us that use the path have a responsibility for its upkeep. Our playground, our haven, our therapy is only available to us because of the work that the wonderful people invested in the association do. Please please give generously not just with money but with your time...

We are so excited that the number of events and tours has grown significantly. Each activity organiser carrying the badge, whether they be business, community organisation or charity has generously pledged £1 per participant to help us maintain the National Trail.

We hope this helps ease the minds of supporters who have been in touch recently, worried about the effects of mass-participants events on the Trail in winter. Look for the Coast Path Friendly badge below when you are choosing your next activity.

Thank you to the following organisers who have registered their activities so far in 2020: https://www.southwestcoastpath.org.uk/events/friendly-events/meet-cp-friendly/

Me with my “Climb South West Trail Team” teammates at the start of the 2020 Arc of Attrition. I was the only one that didn’t finish. Super proud of my buddies - they smashed it like storm troopers!

Well, who’d have thought it? Official UK ultra rankings for 2019 and I am in the top 20 women over both 100km and 24hrs. Currently gobsmacked. Some other familiar and fabulous names in those lists too!
