Hi guys! If you are interested in getting a feel for what a SWUBS round will be like before SWUBS starts then you should definitely come to Cardiff University Student Bouldering Comp. Here is some information on it for all that are interested:
The qualifiers for the competition are going to start at 4:30pm so if you are driving it would be best to get there for 4:00pm which will give you time to get ready and warm up. Everyone who is competing tomorrow will get exclusive access to the new bouldering area which is very exciting! You will not be allowed into this area unless you have paid for a ticket which will provide you with a wristband to let you into this area.
There will be a DJ there for the whole competition and Red Bull will be there providing everyone with free Red Bulls! There will also be Jodiee Evans photographing the event so look out for her to get some sick shots of you! You will also be able to buy some pizzas and drinks from the cafe in Boulders to sustain you for the comp!
If you fancy it we are doing a sleepover at boulders straight after the comp, this will be an additional £3 but will be a great laugh and let's you drink a bit more at the comp also! We will have to leave boulders by 9:00-9:30am on Sunday morning so that they can get the wall ready and open up by 10:00am.
The competition has been a great laugh every year and is a great event no matter your ability! It's all about having a good time, trying some sick climbs and socialising with everyone, it doesn't matter how well you do so make sure to come along. (At least to have a look at the new area and get some free red bulls)
Finally this a rough schedule of the comp and how it will go down:
4:00pm - Arrival, warm up and make sure to have you're scorecard and wristband which we will provide you with.
4:30pm - 7:30pm - Qualifiers. 3 hours to attempt 25 problems.
7:30pm - 8:30pm - Rest and get some pizza in you. Announcement on who makes it to the final, this will be the top 3 from each category.
8:30pm - 10:00PM - Finals where you can spectate and finish of your pizza and some drinks or be climbing for everyone to watch! Followed by the prize ceremony for the winners with prizes sponsored to us by Up and Under who we are very grateful for!
10:00pm - Leave if you are not staying or stay for the sleepover!
