General information
“The Wrong Crowd is an exciting theatre company who celebrate the imagination” A Younger Theatre The Wrong Crowd make visually-inventive, emotionally articulate theatre for audiences of all ages. We take our audiences across a threshold into a magical other place, where they can connect to their humanity, each other and the world. Since 2011 The Wrong Crowd have made 4 critically acclaimed shows, won a Herald Angel Award, and have been nominated for 4 further awards, including Total Theatre Emerging. We have reached over 54,000 people with our shows Kite, Swanhunter, Hag, The Girl With the Iron Claws, our participatory programmes and digital creative content. The company was formed by 3 Co-Directors: Writer/Director Hannah Mulder, Designer/Puppet Director Rachael Canning, Producer Bonnie Mitchell. In the space of 6 short years the company has developed from a self-funded partnership producing small-scale studio shows, to a critically acclaimed registered company and charity. We have produced celebrated co-productions with Opera North and Soho Theatre as part of London International Mime Festival. Our work has premiered at the Royal Opera House and toured nationally, with an international tour to Asia pending. As west-country artists we are thrilled to have recently relocated ourselves and the company back home to Devon, where we have been appointed the first ever Resident Company at Theatre Royal Plymouth.
