After five years of growth, innovation and dedication to building British gravel racing, the 2025 British Gravel Championships will be the final edition delivered by Red On Sports.
Since launching the event with just under 300 riders in 2021, the Championships have grown to over 1,000 competitors and reached audiences in more than 50 countries. Together with riders, partners and supporters, we’ve created not only a national championship but a full celebration of British Gravel, complete with elite racing, festivals, family activities, charity rides and more.
When we first embarked on this journey, we proactively sought collaboration with British Cycling to help develop this new discipline. After choosing not to be involved during those formative, heavy investment years, British Cycling is now, looking to build a National Championships under their own structures. Red On Sports were invited to partner with British Cycling on this venutre. Despite our best efforts, we’ve not been able to agree on a future direction of a gravel championship event that reflects the British Gravel Championships maturity or provides the guarantees needed around racing safety standards, visibility, age-group racing and sustainable long-term delivery.
As a result, it's with great sadness that Red On Sports will no longer deliver the British Gravel Championships and will also not be taking part in the tender process British Cycling has invited us to join for 2026.
This is not the end of our commitment to gravel, far from it. The Gralloch is continuing its rapid ascent toward becoming Europe’s biggest and most exciting gravel festival, and we’re immensely proud of how strongly that community is growing.
And 2026? That’s where things get really exciting. We’re already deep into planning a brand-new flagship gravel experience that will raise the bar once again for riders of all levels. Bigger, bolder, more ambitious, built on everything we’ve learned and everything this community deserves.
Thank you to every rider, partner, supporter and fan who helped build this movement with us.
