For the third week In a Row, 5 skippers (Ali L, David R, John O, Ian T and Ian D) enjoyed sunny conditions and close racing.

A bit chilly first thing but it stayed dry all day and jackets were off and sunglasses were on the afternoon.

First races were held into a light Northerly but this swung about before settling into a steady (ish) easterly.

Ali sailed well with his V12 picking up early wins but others worked out the course and the front places were shared as the day wore on.
Good starts were critical and as usual it was a case of only tacking when the wind shifted.
Racing continued through to mid afternoon giving lots of close finishes - a fun day for all.

A lot of information on boat set ups was shared in the break times and some skippers tried new ideas with varying success.
Towards the end of the day skippers even swapped boats in an effort to see if there was a better set up although there weren’t any takers for trying Ian T’s BP.
On the positive side after work done during the week Ian’s boat was leak free and was certainly going better than last week.

Another day of quality IOM racing was enjoyed by 6 skippers at Forehill Reservoir today.

Brian C continued with his Fractal to work on his recently built rigs, David R was back with his Vision boat but unfortunately had difficulty to see his boat at times,
Ian T brought his Britpop to replace his leaky Woody, Steve T was back with his trusty Corbie woody, John O had his Venti and Ian D preferred to again sail his Cheinz.

Wind direction was generally westerly but unfortunately it had a good bit of south in it which meant the spreader and downwind course marks were far away from the walkway.
This made it tricky for some to see clearly what their boat was doing.
Later in the morning a throw in mark was used as a windward mark which helped and when the wind straightened out in the afternoon the downwind gate marks were used which also helped.
On the positive side the wind strength remained steady all day well within the capabilities of A rig. There were no major windshifts to contend with but catching the small shifts at the right time could make a big difference.

The close racing resulted in busy traffic at the turning marks not always favouring the leading boat.
Over the day there were good wins for several skippers none more so than Ian T who won the last race.
The tuning tips from Steve and John paid off getting Ian’s Britpop back up to speed.
