Due to the high temperatures, we will close at 4.00pm today and tomorrow.

Bosworth's Garden Centre will also close at 4.00pm with cafe service ending at 3.30pm.

It's true that we grumble about how cold we are inside our thick walls sometimes and are glad to light a fire or turn up the heating in the Estate Office.

Definitely not fireside temperatures this week so why not come for a lovely cool visit inside Elton Hall on Wednesday or Thursday afternoon? We're open from 2.00pm-5.00pm and there are places available on our guided tours at half-hourly intervals.

Of course, if it's too chilly, you can always heat up again in our lovely garden afterwards!

In the early morning and late in the afternoon when visitors have left, we hear birdsong.

Among others, there's a pigeon who hides in the planting around the Lily Pond, red kites often circling overhead - and becoming increasingly bold - the occasional pheasant wandering on the drive. Blue t**s have just fledged again from the old letter box by the door to the Estate Office but we kept that quiet so they would be undisturbed.

The peacock and his companions on the topiary lawn, however, remain silent.

Open on Wednesday and Thursday afternoons until the end of August, as well as Sundays throughout August and on August Bank Holiday Monday. Guided tours of the Hall are available until 9th July, after which visitors can enjoy free-flow visits for the remainder of the season.

Who's this? A Queen Elizabeth I scarecrow welcoming visitors to our garden as part of the very successful Elton Village Open Day yesterday.

We were delighted to welcome so many Elton villagers and friends for a lovely sunny afternoon in the garden and hope that some may return over the summer to visit the Hall itself.
