A cheerful Monday morning start to see the DEWS Coaches vintage Bentley Eagle bringing visitors up the drive. Malvern Civic Society stopped for a group garden photo last week during their visit and with Rutland Morris entertaining everyone on Bank Holiday Monday we've had a busy beginning this year.

Open again Wednesday and Thursday for guided tours and the gardens are looking lovely! Join us?

We were looking for a plant list this this week so the subject of archives cropped up.

We have a lot. Not surprising for a property dating back several hundred years. Over the winter months, we spend some of our time trying to put better order into the last 40 years of paperwork, which often seems to entail moving stacks of boxes from place to place and trawling through lists and schedules. Here's what just a small quantity of it looks like.

A never-ending, constantly changing task and one that may send us all out in our own boxes before we're done!

The time of year when the Orangery really comes into its own. It's our hot, Mediterranean style garden where the olive trees have been joined by salvias planted in the borders and the orange and lemon trees brought outside to their summer places.

Much discussed at RHS - Royal Horticultural Society Chelsea Flower Show this year, we seem to have had an unexpected visit from a cousin of one of their gnomes over the weekend. Perhaps he dropped in to check up on the planting?

What an opening weekend we’ve had.

We’re very grateful to Rutland Morris who still joined us for a performance on the lawn despite scorching heat. And even the day after one of their couples married yesterday. Congratulations!
