🐾 On Sunday 4 July at the Scottish Game Fair, the Native Scottish Breeds Parade will celebrate Scotland’s hounds and herding dogs.

Among the breeds taking part will be the majestic Scottish Deerhound and the ever-faithful Smooth Collie — two breeds deeply rooted in Scotland’s history and working heritage. 🐶

Known as the “Royal Dog of Scotland”, the Deerhound is admired for its grace, speed, and gentle temperament, while the Smooth Collie is renowned for its intelligence, loyalty, and versatility as a working dog.

💡 Fun fact – fewer than 29 Smooth Collies were registered in the UK last year, making them one of the rarest, and perhaps the true unicorn, of Scotland’s native dog breeds. ✨

Pictured here are Rain and Fiadh, two beautiful Smooth Collies.

You’ll be able to meet these wonderful breeds in the Native Breeds Tent and watch them take part in the Native Scottish Breeds Parade across the weekend.

Will you and your dogs be joining us this summer? 👇🐕

At this year’s GWCT Scottish Game Fair, visitors can look forward to hearing from one of the UK’s most respected names in the Gundog world... David Logan.

From training his very first dog at just 14 years old to becoming one of the youngest A Panel Retriever Judges in the UK, David’s journey through Working Tests and Field Trials has been nothing short of remarkable. Following in the footsteps of his mother, Janice Cunningham, David has built an impressive career in the sport, including multiple IGL Championship appearances and success with his current dog, FTCH Craigmaddie Mufasa of Bishopbrae (“Ace”).

Alongside judging at the prestigious IGL Retriever Championship this year, David will once again be bringing his expertise and enthusiasm to the Kronch Four Nations Commentary Box 0 offering insight into the handlers, dogs and judging throughout the competitions and helping create the fantastic atmosphere our visitors know and love.

David’s dedication, passion and success continue to inspire the next generation of Gundog enthusiasts, making him a brilliant ambassador for the sport.
