What a wonderful and special evening to open our new season!

Steven Osborne gave us such a beautiful performance — wonderfully sensitive, lyrical and colourful, with a thoughtful and intelligent interpretation throughout.

His own Schubert arrangements were beautifully played - I loved Schwanengesang, D. 957 Am Meer but it was the Sonata that completely captivated me. I was spellbound from the very first note to the last.

And what a treat for the encore: Steven’s own piece, which somehow felt to me like a Scottish folksong. It made me imagine being surrounded by Scotland’s hauntingly beautiful scenery — such a perfect way to end the evening.

A huge thank you to Steven for such a memorable performance and to everyone who came to support us — we had over 130 people including many members from Carlisle, Cockermouth and Keswick Music societies in the audience! We received so much wonderful comment from appreciative listeners both during and after the concert !!

There will be around 80 voices raising the roof at Penrith Methodist Church!!!

Silja is short for Cecilia or St Cecilia the patron saint of music. Come and enjoy the beautiful music of the Silja piano trio in the beautiful setting of our parish church. We have a fine acoustic which is very much prized by our professional musicians. Tickets are £20 to include a post concert supper and are at the Allendale Coop, Market Place Post Office and Hexham Violin Shop. Looking forward to welcoming you!

Wonderful opportunity!! Not to be missed. 🎹🎉👏

The recital by Jean-Efflam Bavouzet is rapidly approaching. It is a rare honour to have secured a pianist of such international renown, and it presents a wonderful opportunity for everyone to experience brilliant pianism and enjoy a bank holiday Sunday by avoiding holiday traffic. Hope to see many of you on 24th May, in Central Hall, the Dolphin Centre. During construction work on the Centre, entry to Central Hall is via the Bull Wynd entrance only.
