We’ve had a music-packed afternoon at the Pen*stone Paramount today with Phil Kelsall & Pete Lindup. It was nice to welcome a few first-time visitors and we look forward to welcoming you back in the future.

We take a break from events at the Pen*stone Paramount now until October but our monthly events continue at the Astoria Centre, Barnsley for the next four months.

Although there’s a break from events, we’re planning to carry out some maintenance work on the Paramount Compton over the Summer months, so that it’ll sound even better when we return.

A BLACKPOOL BONANZA
Saturday 9th May at 2.30pm

Blackpool Tower’s star organist - Phil Kelsall makes a welcome return to the Compton Organ at the Pen*stone Paramount. Having performed at the iconic Blackpool Tower (as seen on BBC’s ‘Strictly Come Dancing’) for 50 years, Phil knows how to wow an audience with great music and superb showmanship, which clearly shows why he’s such a major part of the entertainment scene in Blackpool. For over 40 years, Phil has starred in the magnificent Thursford Christmas Spectacular, entertaining audiences with his musical dexterity.

Joining Phil is musical comedy instrumentalist - Pete Lindup. Pete has entertained millions of Blackpool holiday makers over the past 50 years or so, with his highly-acclaimed performances at Blackpool’s leading theatres and entertainment venues.

What a fabulous afternoon of musical mastery we had at the Pen*stone Paramount last Saturday, when Donald Mackenzie accompanied the classic Buster Keaton silent film - The General.

Over 100 people experienced a true master of his craft at work, often forgetting he was there at all at times, such was the synchronisation between musician and film becoming one entity.

We welcome Donald back to the Pen*stone Paramount in October when by popular demand, we screen another silent film classic - Nosferatu.

Yesterday, Kevin & Alan visited the Pen*stone Paramount to prepare the organ for this coming Saturday’s special event - ‘The General’, featuring Buster Keaton on screen, and accompanied by Donald Mackenzie on the Compton cinema organ.

Having not been used for several months, we were surprised that the organ was fault free and sounded in good tune. A few hours later, the organ had been checked over and ready for its starring role on Saturday.
