Happy New Year to you all!

Contest season is almost back underway, with lots of events happening all over the UK in the next few months - culminating, of course, in the Regional Championships (National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain) in March.

Between now and the end of March is extremely busy for lots of people - us included! Our busiest time is February, when most of the 500 competing bands in the "Regionals" send in paperwork for their players.

We appreciate that a substantial percentage of paperwork takes place last-minute before competitions. However, if you have any paperwork ready to send in now... PLEASE SEND IT IN ASAP! This will ensure minimal disruption for all bands closer to the competitions.

🚨 Attention Band Secretaries! 🚨

As the Regional Championships 2025 (National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain) draws closer, our office workload is increasing daily!

While we’re still aiming to complete all transactions within 24 hours of receiving them, we’ve noticed a few things that are slowing down the player registration process.

Please take a moment to double-check the following before submitting applications:

✅ PLAYER LIST
Make sure to factor in the number of players on your List after adding any new players (the maximum allowed is 40).

✅ ACCOUNT BALANCE
If your Invoice balance is at £50.00 or more, we can’t process further transactions until your invoice is fully paid...

✅ COMPLETED FORMS
Please check that all fields (especially players’ dates of birth and Secretary signatures) are filled out correctly. These are the most common omissions!

Any incomplete transactions will go to the bottom of our "Pending File" and may take longer than expected to process. Given the high volume of transactions right now, the "Pending File" isn’t prioritised.

Brass Band Players Ltd CLARIFIES RULES

The BBP Registry is delighted that the Spring Festival (part of the British Open) is now using the BBP registration service for their events, which now brings all major English & Welsh contests under the BBP banner.

However, in recent days BBP has been contacted by several individuals and bands who wish to clarify some of the Registry Rules – specifically in relation to the quantity of moves allowed in a 12-month period, the duration before which a player can return to their previous band, and even clarification on the exact definition of a “move”.

Therefore, Tim Jones (Registrar) and Helen Williams (Deputy Registrar) have put together the following few bullet points to assist Secretaries and players.
