⚠️ **KENNEL COUGH HEADS UP** 🐾
Just a wee heads up to everyone. I’ve now heard of a couple of local cases of kennel cough, so it definitely seems to be doing the rounds again.
Please keep an eye (and an ear!) on your dogs for coughing, hacking, gagging/retching, bringing up white froth, sneezing or a runny nose.
If your dog starts coughing, please let me know straight away and DO NOT send them out on their walk.
Even if you think the cough is caused by something else, I need to know about it before they mix with the rest of the gang.
I know missing walks is a pain, but kennel cough spreads easily when dogs are mixing and I have to protect everyone else's dogs as well as my own.
Any dog showing signs of kennel cough will need to stay off walks until they have been completely cough free for 2 weeks.
This means 2 weeks from their last cough, not from when the symptoms first started.
I do need to be strict about this. One coughing dog could potentially affect multiple groups and ultimately leave me having to shut down for a couple of weeks, so please don't be offended if I turn up on Monday and refuse to take a dog that’s honking like a goose.
Hopefully we can dodge it 🤞🐶 but with cases popping up locally, I'd rather be over cautious than have it work its way through the gang.
Thanks everyone ❤️🐾
